Coach Bro needs to go. This team needs a hardass at HC who won't be just trying to be everyone's buddy.

Every single player who was involved in 28-3 (besides Jarrett and Deion Jones) needs to join them in the unemployment line.

And I think Arthur is gonna go for Harbaugh. Big name b/c that's what Arthur does and it would fulfill your need for a hardass.

I'm just fine trading Julio. His contract bullshite before last season was enough for me.

I love Ryan and trading him isn't an option, but it might be time to consider moving on after the 2021 season and going with a QB on a rookie contract.

Like I said on the MSB yesterday, for as great as Julio is and has been, nobody is gonna give up a high draft pick for a soon to be 32 yo WR who is banged up. He is a tough SOB no doubt and will walk into Canton, but this isn't Madden.

Ryan will retire here.

Don't need a high draft pick. I'd trade him for a 3rd just to get his contact off the books.

Then you're in cap hell b/c of the hit, leaving you no way to rebuild into a sufficient roster.

You guys need to understand how the cap works.

The team is going to run into cap hell at some point anyways because there is not a worse GM at contract negotiations in the league than Dimitroff ($64M guaranteed to a 30 year old WR, for example). All of these restructurings are just kicking the can down the road. This team is nowhere close to competing for anything substantial, so I'd rather rip the bandaid off and get on with it. There is an out in Ryan's contract after 2021 and I think we need to strongly consider using it, not because Ryan isn't good (he is), but because it's going to be time to draft a young QB and start over instead of paying a 37 year old $35M/year while putting a dogshit roster around him.

This is an unpopular opinion, but I've had enough of Julio. Ridley has shown more than enough to be WR1. Julio got $64M guaranteed to play 60% of the snaps on offense, and again, his contract bullshite before last season (after hanging out with Terrell Owens all offseason) really changed my perception of him.

You can't trade Julio b/c of his contract, I don't know what's hard to understand about this. Quit being emotional. Nobody would take his contract, that's a fact. He's here till his contract is up, end of discussion. Anyone who suggests trading Julio just because or you just don't like him has no idea how the cap works.

Julio is gonna be here. Deal w/it.

Then Dimitroff needs to be shitcanned for giving him that awful deal.

Maybe. But you just can't trade Julio b/c of "reasons" and "I don't like him". Its just not financially feasible to do right now. Not till his contract is up.

I think this tactic is fairly common in the NFL. Lots of teams do this.

Exactly. See the Saints. They are masters at it.

They don't consistently let themselves get bent over a table in contract negotiations, and they have a significant coaching advantage over the Falcons.

Dimitroff picking up Beasley's 5th year option solely to keep good relations with CAA and then getting raped by CAA in the Julio and Grady contracts is exactly why I want Dimitroff gone.

I don't know man. Seems to me that lots of teams "overpay" for contracts. Players often get paid highly for what they have done in the past, and very often that doesn't match well with what they do AFTER the fat contract is signed, sealed and delivered.

Yeah, Champagne is right. Players get paid for what they have done, not what they will do. I don't disagree that it's financially irresponsible to a degree(although you make an exception for Julio b/c he's tops at his position) but Dimitroff isn't the last GM to hand out bad contracts and he won't be the last. You just can't single him out.

You have a list of GMs to take his place? B/c Arthur sure as hell doesn't.

My list only has one name: Give me Rick Smith. The Texans only fired him because he wasn't a yes man for Bill O'Brien. His last 10 first round picks with the Texans:

2008: Duane Brown
2009: Brian Cushing
2010: Kareem Jackson
2011: JJ Watt
2012: Whitney Mercilus
2013: DeAndre Hopkins
2014: Jadeveon Clowney
2015: Kevin Johnson
2016: Will Fuller
2017: Deshaun Watson

That is a phenomenal run of first round picks and it is why the Texans stayed competitive despite having O'Brien (who was hired by the owner, not Smith).
