They were 7-10 last year with incredible luck in one score games (7-2). The roster is worse this year and I fully expect them to be in the hunt for the #1 overall pick.

Which positions are worse this year in your opinion?

This. Also, advance point spreads came out for the first 15 games of the season and the Falcons are underdogs in 14 of them. People who do this for a living think this is going to be a pretty bad team.

Falcons play the NFC West and AFC North divisions this year. 1-3 wins is possible.

Saints L
@Rams L
@Seahawks L
Browns L
@Bucs L
49ers L
@Bengals L
Panthers L
Chargers L
@Panthers W
Bears W
@Redskins L
Steelers L
@Saints L
@Ravens L
Cardinals W
Bucs L

3-14

That's a very, very realistic possibility. I gave them the Cardinals win because weird shite happens in the NFL sometimes.

This is going to be a really, really bad team. Years of shitty drafting and worse contracts have led to this point. Unfortunately, the drafting doesn't seem to have gotten any better despite a regime change.

WR is definitely not worse.

Gage
Zacchaeus
Sharpe

is way worse than:

Drake London
Bryan Edwards
Zacchaeus
Damiere Byrd

Also, you are a Saints fan.

I'm not sold on Drake London at all. That's part of why I think this team is going to be so bad. I thought that was an atrocious draft pick. Big slow WRs can be found in any round of the draft.

His college highlight tape is really fun to watch. It's also full of skills that don't translate to the NFL. It's a lot easier to dunk on Pac 12 defensive backs than NFL defensive backs. He's going to struggle to get open, IMO.

This is simply not true. There’s clear improvement in the secondary, WRs, and pass rush. And the OL should be better due to natural progression of our 3 young guys.

I see improvement at WR, DBs, and Edge, regression at QB, and everything else is about the same. We definitely overachieved at 7-10 last year so I’m expecting 6-7 wins this year as well

That was the worst 7 win team of all time. A better way to describe their 2021 season is a 3-14 team that had amazing luck in one score games, which is a stat that tends to even out over time. They're due for some bad regression in the one score game department, and they aren't good enough to blow anyone out.

This all might be true, but according to the Falcons he’s good enough to start over Damiere Byrd, who probably would’ve been WR2 for us last year.

Even if London gives us absolutely nothing this year I still think the WR room is better this year. Russell Gage was one of the worst WR1s of all time. Drops and fumbles galore.

Edwards is only 23 and put up decent stats while sharing targets with 3 other solid receivers and a Top 3 TE

I don't think London is going to give us nothing, and I do think he's going to be a red zone weapon, but I think he is going to be a disappointment compared to where he was drafted. The Falcons should have sprinted to the podium and drafted Jordan Davis when that pick rolled around.

Diddly you are a good baw. Better than this.

Yes I am a Saints fan. I also know a worse roster when I see one. Drake London does not make that WR core better. I do think he will be an elite talent going forward but come on.

Don’t let your bias get in the way. I see the max wins for the falcons at 5 or 6.

Of course he does. It’s pretty simple:

Edwards = Gage
Zacchaeus = Zacchaeus
Drake London >>> Tajae Sharp
Damiere Byrd >>> Christian Blake

The WR room is just straight up better this year. It’s still not good but it’s definitely not worse like you said.

and worse contracts

The current Falcons situation reminds me of the Braves and Dan Uggla years when we stopped developing players, and loaded it with old players looking for a pay day. I think we gave Uggla $20 million just to go away, and it took over half a decade to get back to being competitive. The contract negations have been absolutely horrible.

I’m not optimistic about this year, but maybe the defense will step up and we can run the ball. I doubt we score over 25 points.
