That and Wil Lutz are the only good things about that franchise.

I think you still haven't (pretty sure Grind Time is a MSU fan?)... but it's the thought that counts I suppose.

After reading 9/10 posts on the saints board, frick that whole team. Seriously.
I hope we go into their house and beat them by 1-3 points again just to listen to their salty arse, conspiracy filled, frick bucket fan base cry more.
I’d love nothing more than them lose to the jets, lose to us, and then lose 1 more and get bounced from the playoffs. Then let’s start the choke jokes.
I would pray daily that I ran into Sean Payton in real life.

I got bored at work and decided to chart some of the penalties that their fans are bitching about. I can't really find video evidence online so I am simply going by the play-by-play on ESPN.com.
First FG drive:
- 2nd and 2 - pass incomplete but Def. Holding gives us 1st down. Chances are we pick up the 3rd and 2 if the penalty was not called.
- Very next play, Freeman catches ball for 5 yards. Illegal hands penalty negates play and gives Falcons first down. Freeman then runs for 5 on the next play anyways. I know you can't say the same thing would have happened, but 2nd and 5 is a reasonable down and distance to figure a 1st down can be accomplished in 2 plays.
1st TD Drive:
-Falcons overcome a false start to convert a 1st down.
-3rd and 11 - this is the roughing the passer play.
-Falcons get called for an illegal block which forced a 2nd and 20. Falcons managed to still get a 1st down without aid of a penalty.
Shame on the Saints defense for giving up first downs on 1st and 15 and 2nd and 20 during this drive. The roughing call hurts, but you should have manned up and made stops when given the opportunity.
2nd Drive of the 3rd Quarter:
-Freeman runs for 6 yards but defensive holding gives ATL first down. Again, we were at 2nd and short without the penalty and probably get the first anyways.
-very next play, Gabriel runs for 9 yards and we get the first down due to face mask. You can't argue this, but without the penalty it is still 2nd and 1.
Ryan throws an INT on this drive anyways, so those 2 penalties didn't really help us score.
Next Falcons Drive:
-NO called for penalty again, but it was cancelled out by the ridiculously absurd OPI on Julio which negated a 26 yard completion. This was a big play in my opinion.
Falcons punt
Next Falcons TD Drive:
-Falcons convert a 3rd and 1 legitimately, but decide to take the Def. Holding on Lattimore because 5 yards > 2 yards. Had no bearing on the drive.
-Illegal contact against NO gives Atlanta a first down after an incomplete pass on 1st and 10. Next two plays were runs of 7 and 5 so, whatever.
-Atlanta called for holding, 10 yards.
-NO called for holding, giving falcons first down. This is a big play and probably affected the drive. Falcons still had to drive 43 yards to score after this.
The narrative is that the Falcons were handed first downs on 8 or 9 Saints penalties. The reality is that the majority of the penalties didn't really factor into the success or failure of these drives. I can point out maybe 2 huge penalties that did give the Falcons a big break, but overall I don't think one can argue that the Falcons do not win without the help of the refs.

Exactly. That's what I was trying to state on the Saints message board but they're having none of it. The earth is flat and you and NGT used all your Bitcoin earnings to pay off the refs. It's easier for them to act like the game was "stolen" from them since they expected to walk in and pummel us.
I went back and watched the game on Friday and I know we're biased but I walked away thinking there were only 3 questionable ones that went our way:
1) The Roughing the Passer call on 3rd and 11
2) The Defensive Holding call (where we still had a chance the get a 1st down with 2 more downs)
3) The illegal contact on the incomplete pass that was on 1st and 10 (still would've had 2 more opportunities)
Most of the other calls would have DIRECTLY resulted in a 1st down gain had the refs kept their flags in their pockets.
Their only other gripe is the flag right before half that wiped their FG out. But it's a damn penalty. Da fuq you want?
I did find it extremely entertaining to watch S.P. make the choke sign, only to have Drew Brees choke. Then he blew his gasket and was screaming at the ref, got a flag and then in his post game presser acted like he didn't do the choke sign and stated he was merely asking for a timeout to the ref.

If I were to make this exact same post on the MSB or Saints Talk, the response would just be that, "well, the Falcons didn't get called for the same stuff!".
I don't really have the energy to rewatch the game and specifically look for uncalled fouls against the Falcons (please don't show me still shot photos, Saints fans, it's impossible to see a penalty without looking at a video clip showing the context).

I can't even count the number of games where if we even touched Drew Brees, it was an instant flag. It went 1 game for us and now there's an NFL conspiracy.
It's something in the water here, I think.
Between LSU and Saints fans, I think some of their fan base genuinely feels like "the man" is always out to get them. Constantly feeling disenfranchised is a mentality and I believe they like it - hell, revel in it.
