Reminder. Hart traded Kimbrel for two scrub outfielders.
The sole purpose of that deal was to dump BJ Upton's contract.
Also, how long can Snit keep running Gausman out there? This has to be his last start for awhile.

we got their draft pick, which we used to draft Austin Riley.
And we didn’t need Kimbrel at that time anyways

That loss was a bummer, but we saw it coming with Gausman's pitching... but Acuna/Swanson/Markakis tried to start a comeback in the 9th, but went down 7-4.

If nothing else we can say gausman is consistent.

Apparently we are out for Kimbrel
Kimbrell signed a 3 year 43 million dollar deal, not expensive or that risky for a 31 year old star closer. This is the final proof that the Braves internal max payroll number is around 120 million, over ten million less than the league average for a team with top ten revenue.

I don't really think it's proof of anything other than the organization didn't see current Kimbrel as a player worth signing to the $$ and years.
If they can grab the win today (and if Folty looks good), then I will really like how we can set ourselves up heading into the Philly series next weekend with 3 at Miami and 4 back at home against Pittsburgh. Philly has the Reds and Dbacks, so should be able to maintain our spot in the standings until that series.

Do you agree with the organization’s stance on Kimbrell if that were the case? I know you pay a lot more attention than most with their dealings.

The cubs aren’t exactly known for spending wisely. They did the same thing with Dravish and there were even more signs with him that he was going downhill. The braves probably will never allocate that much to a closer and I can’t blame them.

The cubs have recently won a World Series in a much much tougher division.

they had a hell of a team that year.
that said, the NLC wasn't terribly good that year, and them winning the world series had nothing to do with spending poorly/wisely. That team was mainly built off of guys they developed or traded for in the minors. They paid for Heyward prior to that season and are regretting every penny. I don't care how many times they want to talk about his motivational speech.

Soroka's pitching against Urena tomorrow night, then Julio vs Richards and Fried vs Lopez. Sounds like Julio has the toughest competition, and wonder if Urena will play bush league like usual.

According to a source, the Braves have emerged as frontrunners to sign Dallas Keuchel. Yankees remain in the mix, but Atlanta appears to be making a push.

Well I guess they couldn’t keep the TV deal a secret, someone has been lying about the revenue it appears.....why am I not surprised.
“Informed of the figures stated by Maffei, Braves executives declined to comment for this article. ”
“But look at it this way: $83 million is enough to pay about 70 percent of the Braves’ current major-league player payroll before a single ticket or hot dog is sold and before a single dollar is received from MLB’s national TV deals or from The Battery Atlanta. ”

Who do you think would drop out of the rotation if the Braves bring him on? I could see Gausman or Folty unless one of them redeems in the mean time. I wonder if they'd put the one they choose in the bullpen with Newk and Touki or send him down?
Posted on 6/6/19 at 6:42 pm to dudeabides
would have to be Gausman with his two pitch self.

Rosenthal just tweeted:

#Braves in serious talks with free-agent left-hander Dallas Keuchel, sources tell The Athletic. Unclear whether deal is in place and whether other teams are still involved. @Feinsand mentioned Braves earlier as front-runner.
