That was the one issue I took with the Donaldson signing this off-season. Camargo had a very good season last year and signing a former MVP to play 3B was not going to allow Camargo to get more in game reps and sustain/improve upon his 2018 year.

Camargo had a good season but he is nowhere near the ballpark of a healthy Donaldson

In the waaaaaayyyy too early WC standings the Braves are only 1 game out, but if the Braves are still playing .500 ball in mid-July then I'd fully expect AA to be a seller - especially if Donaldson is healthy - and get some pieces in return for 2020 and beyond.

That's an interesting take. hard to argue with.

Although I'll say that if we are playing .500 ball in july, then I'd expect he'll be a buyer. Just one hot streak for a .500 team could get you into the playoffs.

The Brewers are beating the phillies, but it's still early, if they keep it up ATL is 2 1/2 games out. Or we could wait until ATL can beat philly themselves and not have to count on other heavy hitters... but that might not be til next season.

edit: now they're lost

No doubt, but even right now Donaldson is having a below average season based off his career averages for AVG, OPS, and OPS+. With that being said, I am sure everyone reading this remembers Uggla batting sub-Mendoza line before his 33 game hitting streak raising his AVG to a not so horrible .220 or .230 something after the streak ended. A hot streak could make Donaldson worth every cent he is being paid.

It is still way to early in the season to speculate on what to do with Camargo or Riley. Considering Donaldson's injury issues over the last few seasons and Jose Urena's ability to HBP Braves, one of those guys might be needed to be an every day player before the trade deadline.

It really depends on where the rest of the NL is. If winning the Division is not realistic and there is a logjam for the WC spots then it would make sense to shop a healthy Donaldson and Julio (if his ERA and WHIP are around league average or better).

Under AA, the Braves have not shown a propensity to trade many of the stars of the farm system. That was supposedly the sticking point with FLA regarding the JTR trade talks.

Yeah, my understanding is that the Marlins were more concerned about saying they got the #x prospect from a team's system rather than making a fair deal.

In other words, the Braves' #1, 2, 3, and 4 prospects might have been better than anything the phillies could offer, but they were deadset (for perception purposes) on getting a #whatever, which means they wanted more from the Braves than they were getting from the Phillies, so we said no.

I could easily see this being the case, and if so, we were right to turn it down... You don't give up more than equitable value just because of perception for the receiving team... Perhaps a downside to having really good prospects, but I'd rather be in that situation, as *most* teams are more concerned with value than optics.

I'm going to see the AA Braves when they come to my town in a couple weeks (on an ATL Braves off day of course). I'm mostly looking forward to seeing those OF's... Waters and Pache. If they want to go ahead and get promoted to AAA before then good for them, but then I'd have to do a lot of game note reading or something to find someone else to watch cause they're good.

Lucky.

When I lived near Jacksonville back at the start of the rebuild in 2015, I would try and get to Mississippi Braves/Jax Suns games. At that point, I was "excited" to see Mallex Smith, Rio Ruiz, and Tyrell Jenkins. lol

I live in Jax now and plan on going to at least one of the games when Mississippi comes to town. At that point, it'll be 50/50 whether Pache and Waters are still in AA.

I haven't seen a Braves farm league team play in a long time, so seeing your post made me pull up who was on that team.

2011 M-Braves; depressing... excluding Martin Prado's 2 game rehab stint, here are the career MLB stats from that team:
Games 488
ABs 1357
Runs 139
Hits 328
2Bs 47
3Bs 1
HRs 16
RBIs 128

Pitchers weren't much better, unfortunately.

I have been meaning to go to a Rome Braves game. I drive by their stadium on the way to Atlanta and it looks like it is a nice venue to catch a game.

From Braves twitter: "The Braves today recalled RHP Wes Parsons from Triple-A Gwinnett and returned LHP Jesse Biddle from his major league rehabilitation assignment and reinstated him from the 10-day IL. In order to make room on the active roster, the club designated LHP Jerry Blevins for assignment."

makes a lot of sense. of course, the braves twitter fanboys and fangirls are losing their shite.

folks don't realize that roster management doesn't always necessarily result in the 25 absolute best players in the organization at one time. it should, but it just doesn't work that way.

Hope the Braves and Brewers win on the same night, only way to gain ground in the division today.

I’m not really understanding why this guy is in our starting rotation.

Yeah he gave up a 3 run homer and almost had 30 pitches in the 1st. If he doesn't improve no chance cause they'll leave him in there too long. And we can tell the cardinal guys have the better lineup overall, but we were told they were all cold. Somebody forgot that brave killer guy was playing the Braves I guess.

Might be time for an "elbow injury" followed by a few "rehab starts" for Folty

I just hope he wouldn't be like that Ramirez guy last year, one bad guy then 10 day DL and never came back.
