Harper has a .000 batting average.

I'd have pinch hit for Julio here, but that's just me.

Ender needs to swing the bat

Time for the rally caps in the post Nola part of the game.

Joyce, 2 run homer. 6 to 3.

Braves are going to need a bigger comeback now, they put in Luke J and it's 10 to 3.

10 to 4 Ronald got an RBI in the 8th.

So Harper and Realmuto both went hitless and they put up ten runs, pretty impressive. This game seems like a snapshot of both teams offseason moves, but its just one game.
I just noticed today that we had dropped to 22nd in payroll for 2019 with a revenue of $442 million in 2018, which I can only assume that would be top ten in the league. That is one hell of a business model.

Hats off to Julio. As soon as he went out the others went to shite. Long lineup to face in the Phils.
It's about fricking time Anthopolous finally put some of our minor league pitching prospects in the bullpen. We were screaming for that last year.

There are injuries, but putting 4 long relief type pitchers in the bullpen to open is absolutely mind boggling (Wes Parsons, who could be good, but counts, Luke Jackson, Shane Carle, and Josh Tomlin). Even the pitchers that could be good are young.

I am convinced Snitker wants a bullpen that will go 4 innings. He doesn't like to push his starters past 100 pitches.
So his bullpen isn't really a bullpen in the traditional sense. He wants two guys that can each pitch 2 innings to finish the game.

I'm guessing he said it was worth giving up AS for Newk?
He did and maybe I overvalued Simmons but I still think he's close to a generational player.
Newcomb ain't bad but I would exchange em for Simmons

Luke Jackson has gotta be blowing Snit behind the scenes. Thats the only reason I could think of him being on the team. This is 3 years straight he has been arse and Snit just keeps running him out there.

Andrelton is not a generational player. At least not with us he wasn't. He was a "HOF" caliber defensive shortstop yes. But he couldn't hit worth a damn and unless you're a pitcher, you need to be able to do both to be considered "generational".
Now maybe he has hit better since leaving us, I do not know. I'm not a MLB "statistics guy" and only follow the Braves and the NL East.

Definitely not a "generational" player, but definitely an exceptional shortstop...
His 34.8 WAR is about half of the average for the 22 Shortstops in the HOF...
Not grossly out of line with guys like Jimmy Rollins or Rafael Furcal either though...
His hitting definitely left a bit to be desired. Not just from a pure BA standpoint, but the fact that he would swing and make contact despite the situation... repeat offender for hitting into DPs for example.
Good stat comparison of SS's here: LINK
