Would Mario Cristobal be an acceptable HC here?

He's easily the best HC in the pacific northwest at this time, just won the PAC12 in his second season currently has a 20-7 record as their HC.

Most would say he is a good HC, knows the region having been an assistant under Saban, correct?

Well he was able to have only moderate success at his first stop as HC 2 winning seasons out of 6 finishing with a 27–47 record.

What if Arkansas could hire a guy who took over the same program, has never had a losing season there, has the record for most wins in a single season and was able to win more games in 2 years than the program won in the previous 5 combined? This isn't good enough for Arkansas fans?

I missed the point too. I'm hungover. Can someone explain it?

If this dude only had 2 winning seasons out of 6, we don't want him here. We need a guy that wins at a high clip no matter what because our program is disadvantaged in relation to our peers. If dude met failure elsewhere, chances are he will meet failure here as well.

Mario coached at FIU where the great Butch Davis coaches.

He's a kind of meh hire and we'd have to pry open the checkbook to get him away from Oregon.

Plus why come here? Stanford is trending down. Leach seems to be flaming out at Wazzoo even though they just extended him. Petersen just retired.

He could stay there and rule the Pacific Northwest for the next 5 years easy.

I think he's talking about Butch Davis.

Nobody wants 68 year old past his coaching prime Butch Davis, Dale. 98 was a long time ago.

If that is the best hire we could make after getting a head start on the search than oh well. Don't expect fans to flock back to the stadium. Don't expect support to be there at all. Apathy can kill a program quicker than anything and expect a lot of that going forward

Well I missed it too, but that’s what happens when people don’t just come out and say what the hell they want to say. Obviously, OP has someone in mind, and it isn’t Cristobal. I don’t know why folks want to lay a bunch of convoluted crazy on us, instead of just saying their peace.

Most of my family and friends are already there. Myself too to some extent. Very real danger of becoming absolutely irrelevant in football for a very long time if they don't get this right.

And Butch isn't the right hire.

And what's gonna happen when Drinkwitz turns us down for Mizzou? I mean, who knows if he's actually even a candidate, but he's been widely rumored to be one?

we are so screwed.

Oh we’re screwed. Jeff got his death dagger in the program once and for all.

Yep. I’m about there myself. Why put yourself through the anguish, disappointment, and heartache that comes with being a Razorback football fan, when the people who run the program don’t give enough of a shite to do what needs to be done?

We’re supposed to be loyal fans, send in our money, buy the merch, and deal with complete incompetence at best, and people putting ego, and their own selfishness ahead of the good of the program they are the stewards of?

Drinkwitz is an Arkansas guy and it was hard for him to leave Springdale.

I believe he would jump at the chance to come home if the contract was favorable. He checks all the boxes for what I believe we need here.

If it is Drink they better give him 10 mil to buy top notch assistants and tell him to leave Ted Roof I’m Boone.

I think he might do well here. And here's the thing, we passed up on Norvell a couple years ago for the same reasons. Well, I think about now most would agree that was a mistake. He's FSU bound now. Bridge burnt.

Almost exact same scenario here and it would probably be a mistake to pass it up. And he would probably satisfy the crazy cult too because of his background.

So I hope its him, but apparently Mizzou is pursuing him and if I'm him, in spite of my history at Arkansas, I would certainly listen to what they had to say. They are better positioned than we are right now. It frickin sucks.

Like no P5 experience whatsoever? Like almost no chance of assembling an SEC caliber staff? Like being at the absolute bottom of an incredibly steep learning curve, that takes years at best to learn, and has eaten better, more experienced coaches alive? Like being willing to be fed to a fan base that is now out for blood, because we fired a coach who was woefully over his head, and hired one with even less experience?

What boxes exactly does Drinkwitz check? Willingness to take the job?
