It began in California and while Bama didn't involve itself in the process and development of NIL over the years, the dynasty and the corrupt NCAA did cause everyone minus Bama to push NIL through and make college football more of an even playing ground.
Bama had itself it's own NIL going back to the days of Bear Bryant or even before. But they no longer have that advantage that they enjoyed for decades.

It's Arkansas' fault.
They beat UCLA in 95 and O'Bannon and the 95 UCLA team isn't on a video game 10 years later.

Facts distorted but close. We lost to them, and he was in the game up until they took it off but his name wasn’t on the game. He sued that’s what allowed for NIL to come through. And I forgot what the case was that allows them free movement but basically the school/ncaa is refusing them contracts. Which means they don’t get paid by the school, so they don’t have a contract that would slow movement. But that should be over turned by the next season.
This is where rev sharing comes in.
