I'm with c2v on this one. Berts tell-it-like-it-is seems to take a vacation in the spring.

I've long stopped believing the sweet nothings whispered by Bielema. Love the man to death as our coach but he talks up his players too much and folks drink up that kool-aid too much which leads to massive let downs.

RD had some comments from a couple of Segrest's recruiting targets in his column today.

How do y'all feel about what the kids are saying about Segrest in the context of his efforts in recruiting them?

From DL Greg Rogers of Las Vegas (Arbor View)

quote:

Rogers said he and defensive line coach Rory Segrest are communicating. "We'll keep building," he said. "We talk occasionally. He's not the type of person that likes to DM [direct message] a guy every single day. It's basically a good relationship and we know where we stand. We both want to see each other in the future. We'll see how everything works out recruiting wise."

Doesn't sound like Segrest hustles as hard as other coaches on the trail after this kid.

Florence, AL S JMarick Woods

quote:

He received an offer from the Hogs on March 31 after talking to Coach Bret Bielema and defensive line coach Rory Segrest, who recruits Alabama. "Coach Segrest has probably been talking to me since last summer," Woods said. "He just really wants me to get down there for a visit. He's always telling me the SEC is the best conference."

Shouldn't Segrest be selling Arkansas as an option as the BEST school for the player and not the SEC as the best conference in NCAA football. It's already known and accepted that the SEC is heads and shoulders above the other conferences. This approach equally helps other SEC schools that can easily go negative on us, regardless if the claims have merit or not.

The kid is committed to Michigan so I get the angle. Don't see an issue with it at all.

To put it mildly.. After those pretty good writeups I posted above, I was left wondering if they just looked at a roster and just chose some people. Glad to see GWH is getting some well-deserved recognition though.

10. Jeremiah Ledbetter

Ignoring the order listed, here are the ones I can agree with:

Ellis
Skipper
Morgan
Greenlaw
Wise
Sprinkle
Ledbetter

Need to add:

Toliver
Hatcher
Cornelius

I'd have kept Taiwan Johnson but I think him playing at a heavier weight hurt him last year. Am I forgetting anyone obvious?

I think there are some other strong contenders for making the top 10 list, but I haven't seen enough of them or haven't paid enough attention to them. Like RWIII--I think he could definitely be top 10, but his injury kept me from seeing enough to be certain. And we just don't know how he'll come back from it, though I expect him to be great.

Maybe DJ Dean?

If rw3 is back and the incoming freshman is as billed walker will be a situation guy or 3rd string by end of season.

Yeah Walker was definitely solid last year. The way he came back from his injury and contributed was great. I hope he has a big year.

Reed and Hatcher. We are speculating on Dominique a bit, but I believe he'll have a good year. Hatcher has become a very solid Wr and we really missed him last year, especially early.

Hatcher was on my list!

I agree about Reed, he made some really nice plays. Our WR group is definitely the best group we have going into next season.

Ellis is great against the run, but with the way he plays the pass... I can't agree with him as the best player on the team

Is it meant to be listed in order? I agree, he's not the best player on the team.

Also...Jamrio Bell now working with TE's

I watched Lunney yesterday and he didn't seem happy with his young guys...preaching being consistent. I'm sure it's a combination of DL depth chart, motivation for other TE's and Bell was a pretty good TE himself

ehhhhh y'all know what I think about the top of that list.

also Agim was a top 10 player on the team the day he stepped on campus. I think Agim will become one of the most beloved Hogs of the last 20 years.

trying to come w/ the 10 best players on the team kinda freaks me out on how little experience we've got coming back and the experienced guys that are back haven't been consistently good.
