It boils down to this...
If you manipulate a set of statistics a certain way.. and you keep doing it often enough to try and fit your predetermined point.. it might help.. but.
WE HAVE 10 MOTHERfrickING SEC WINS IN 5 YEARS.
Bret Bielema is OBJECTIVELY the worst full time coach we've ever employed while in the SEC.
Winning Percentage in SEC games by coach:
Bobby Petrino: .531
Houston Nutt: .525
Danny Ford: .413
Bret Bielema: .303
With interims mixed in:
Bobby Petrino: .531
Houston Nutt: .525
Joe Kines: .438
Danny Ford: .413
Bret Bielema: .303
John L. Smith: .250
We had NEVER finished in last place in the SEC West until Bret Bielema, who managed to do it in consecutive seasons and might manage to do it again this year.
In 25 seasons of SEC play, we've finished in last place in our division twice, both under Bret Bielema.

So, if Arkansas' schedule is that tough, then the other teams in our division have played an equally tough schedule (not entirely true because they got to play Arkansas and we didn't). During his four years and some change, Arkansas has the worst conference record in the division. All of our opponents have been better. Only Vandy and Kentucky have been worse in the whole conference. Fatty has turned us into Vanderbilt West without the academic reputation. During his tenure, Arkansas has spent the least amount of time of SEC West teams ranked in the CFP rankings. One glorious week at #25. Cite whatever numbers you want because I would wager there are a lot more that I can cite that demonstrate how horrible the fat frick has been. He will literally be in the running for worst coach in modern Razorback history if this season tanks the way everyone is predicting it to.

We had also NEVER had a winless SEC season. We now have one. Guess who?

Like failing to see that recruiting may be impacted if your coach falls off a motorcycle and gets fired and you replace with a dotard? Anyone who took this job would have been screwed year 1. See Tom Herman at Texas.

Or including the 5th year, 1 SEC game in?
Like I said, I'm not happy with the situation, but I also think it's worth waiting to pull the plug unless this whole thing unravels this year. I'm arguing that it hasn't yet.

What have you seen that gives you faith that this team can win eight games? What have you seen from Bielema and his four years of embarrassing, consistent bed shittings that makes you think he can turn this thing around? I'm genuinely curious.
From my perspective, the O-line is still garbage, the defense has improved to simply garbage from historically bad, the Special Teams play is still garbage, and the coaching is still garbage.

Spurrier left on his own Nebraska was gonna naturally decline the same way Notre dame has and a great example is petrino after nutt. Your logic doesn't hold up also because we're not fed up with 9 win seasons we're fed up with 6 and 7 win seasons now get off bielama and grab your pitchfork

It's not about faith
All I'm defending, is seeing the rest of the season through, because I think it's premature to pull the plug 3 games in.
maybe the whole thing did unravel when Pittman left, but TCU is damn good, and A&M isn't as bad as the narrative is and we actually came close to winning both. There's a fair chance we fold from here, but I threw the stats out because he's done ok enough through a large sample set of a career to pick up 3-4 SEC wins this year. And if he does salvage it, the schedule improves quite a bit for him next year, enough so to win 9.

Unless he completely tanks he'll get that shot in 2018.
Hell maybe he'll get that shot even if he tanks, 5 wins this year.
Nutt got a pass after tanking 2 years in a row.

Off the actual topic, but good OP and posting throughout this thread. It's created discussion and we need more of that in our neck of the woods, just a tough crowd around here lately and understandably so. Keep up the good work sir

Yes...we haven't won consistently since Hatfield and as good as that record was, it's no longer good enough for any fan base anymore. Les miles got fired after a 77% win % in the toughest division in football.
I still think bielema likely salvages this year, wins more next year, but has seen the writing on the wall from the fans and bolts on his own after next year.

numbers mess some folks up...
The Admiral has made some great points.
and think of it this way. If we could be complete un-bias in this thread.. would some of us think differently.
I know that is difficult, but it has made for a great discussion

No shite. If we had a coach that won in the SEC at a 77% clip, he would get a damn statue and people on this board would keep a wallet size photo on them as a potential erectile dysfunction treatment. I think that line was a roundabout attempt at the ole "who can we get that's better" excuse. The better question would be "who could we get that might actually be worse?" John L Smith? Charlie Weis? Derek Dooley? Richard Simmons?
