It would seem like it isn't Chavis.
I wouldn't say that just yet, but the timing of everything sure seems weird for some reason. Not too sure about the recruiting thing, since the early signing is over now. We'll certainly have a DC in place by February, whomever it ends up being.

aTm may have been, or at least it seemed like they were. Obviously, the standoff over Chavis' buyout is or possibly always was bullshite.
I'm starting to wonder if Morris is just used to coaching at SMU, where hundreds of dickheads like ourselves aren't waiting for every bit of news about the football team with baited breath. Does he not understand that we need those extra few days to dissect and criticize his every move? Damn!

[quote]They needed to announce it ASAP for recruiting purposes[/quote I would be the recruits already know. in fact I believe one said he had a pretty good idea who it would be but didn't say more.

well... if he is a G damn coordinator.. I hope he doesn't come here. We already have a lot of the deck stacked against us in our football program. Just imagine how terrible it would be if this were true...

That would be odd. FootballScoop has said he’s already here working and Otis said the same thing. Somebody is definitely going to look stupid when this is done.
Far be it from our state media to be wrong about something like this.
*cough* $15.4 million *cough*

Which jives with the aTm hire, meaning Chavis was probably officially let go soon after the bowl game.
If he was officially let go, you could find the official announcement in the media somewhere.
Best to be patient if doing so saves the program a few bucks in a buyout...

Well sure, but that makes it sound like we're still caight up in the aTm crap. They hired Chavis as their DC. Now they've reportedly hired the guy from Notre Dame for DC. Does aTm still have the option of keeping Chavis? Obviously they aren't retaining him as DC, so they are on the hook for the buyout, right?

Chavis and Jimbo don't get along. Apparently.

Depending on the language in his contract he could be demoted (see Gus Malazahn 2006) or reassigned (Bobby Allen 2014). The additional assistant doesn't mean aggy has to fire him to make room for Elko.
So in the above scenario unless there is language that prevents him from being demoted or reassigned, he leaves he owes the buyout, if there is language preventing this then its the same as firing him and aggy owes the buyout.
I'm not sure his lawsuit with LSU was ever settled over his buyout with them when he left either... Possibly not since Leach is still in a lawsuit with TTU and he was fired from there what, 10 years ago?

Leach is in a non-lawsuit with them. Dude will never get that money.

If that's the case, they could just dick us around indefinitely. We need to shite or get off the pot. If Morris wants him, pay the buyout and get our DC working. If not, move on AND GET OUR DC WORKING. We have no defensive staff whatsoever at the moment.

What work is there to be done as if this date exactly?
Can't recruit.
Can't practice.
So what work is there to be done at this date?

Putting together a defensive staff? Player evaluation, and planning? Do you think every other DC is on indefinite vacation right now?
Why did Fisher go out and get his guy right now if there's nothing to do?
