I was hoping to keep Mark Smith as recruiting coordinator off the field. He was definitely wasting an on field coaching position but the dude knows how to recruit.

Yeah, I agree...
I fairly well knew Tuohy was gone... His family's plane was used to get Kiffin.

Briles very much in play, I'd say down to him and Long if I was a betting man, and I am

Either would be home runs in my book.

don't believe it will be either one...

Who do you think it'll be?

Sounds like Chip Long interviewed this morning and Kendal Briles tonight

I'd be thrilled with either. Slightly moreso with briles. Of course that might be because I'm not that familiar with long and not sure of his recruiting prowess.

Not his son. Dang I am tired again.
However, I think .. think Sam will do more PRO than RPO in the end. I don't think he will totally spread the field often with our Oline design.
But, we will see. I would be thrilled with either one overall. Or Nuss or Gundy.

How I feel, but if Long really was a student of BMFP then I would think lots of crosses and tight ends, short throws setting up bombs combined with a power running game.
Seems more Pittman's speed.

Obviously being a good recruiter would help but when it comes to coordinators I’m more worried about their ability to call plays and game plan. Let the position coaches recruit.

DW seems to think/assume that Briles is the front runner

Bingo, watch Notre Dame film.
Word is Briles was in town yesterday to interview.

From the FSU 247 folks.

If he has a choice between Long and Briles I hope he chooses Long.
I'll be happy either way though, and Briles is a flashier name I think, so it would be more fun trolling tRant with, but I think Long would be a better fit. JMO

Agreed with everything you said. I'd be happy with both, but feel Long is the better fit. I've read elsewhere that Briles doesn't have a playbook and will mold his scheme around the talent on hand.

2017 FAU - #8 offense nationally
2018 Houston - #5 offense nationally
2019 Florida St - #61 offense nationally(FSU was #118 in 2018)
Hard to overlook that, the more impressive thing is those were all three totally different offenses. Dude is what people think Gus was

Well this has a certain appeal to it. So he isn't stuck in this Daddy Briles system of spread your wideouts to the out-of-bounds lines. That's good.
