I'm hearing that Segrest is for sure out, will be announced soon but not within the next day or two. Also saying that Hargreaves is another one that's on the way out but it's not nearly as certain and/or hurried as Segrest. Partridge is 100% in the mix and will most likely appear somewhere on our staff, and supposedly we'll have 2 LB coaches.

It's speculated that Segrest is having a hard time finding a new team to latch on to, which is why it's taking a little longer. He WILL be let go if he's not employed somewhere else by a certain date, which is why he's not out recruiting. Apparently it's bad enough that they're not even letting him go out on visits pretending like he's not being fired like most coaches do. This makes me think that those locker room and behind the scenes problems amongst the defensive staff are mostly involving Segrest (and Hargreaves to a lesser degree).

ETA: apparently Hargreaves isn't being forced out as much as he would be leaving by choice. He likes it here as far as the team goes but there's something behind the scenes going on non-football related. Sounds like they're weighing their options and seeking a replacement, but if that shouldn't happen in a timely manner they're fine with him staying another season.

It also sounds like "theyll be trying something different with the defensive staff." Whether that refers to the 2 LB coaches or something else is up in the air. I like where this is going though.

Thanks for the info. Hargreaves was out recruiting yesterday though which makes me think he's staying. It's the first time he's appeared since the bowl game.

I've known seagrest has been a problem on this staff since the middle of 2015. He should have been shown the door before last season.

It's no suprise to hear this considering his unit was the worst unit on the field.

I will crack open my buffalo trace the day he is fired.

I also assumed this is why it was taking so long. I figured no one would want him.

Segrest can go back to the NFL I would think.

Surely Cleveland could use another shitty coach

This is what happens when you hire an SEC DL coach from Samford. They get a taste of the good life and now don't want to take a job that would require them to go back.

The university received Smith’s letter of resignation, addressed to Athletic Director Jeff Long, on Jan. 11.
In the letter, sent from his iPhone, Smith cited philosophical differences with Bielema as a reason for his departure.
Smith wrote, in part, “In reviewing this season we obviously didn’t meet our internal expectations on defense. To be perfectly clear, as defensive coordinator I take full responsibility for the results of the defense. In discussing solutions with Coach Bielema it has become clear we have philosophical differences on how to get better results.
“Given our differences, it seems in the best interest of everyone involved that I move on. I am grateful to Coach B for the opportunity he gave me and on behalf of my family want to say thanks to the many Rrazorback fans that supported and befriended us along the way.”

I hope that conversation was as follows:

Bert: I wanna switch to a 3-4 as our personel is starting to fit that more. I also want to Blitz more, and play more press or atleast closer to the LOS

Smith:I wanna run a 4-3 read and react. Vanilla as frick, backed up, zone defense and never blitz and get our shite pushed in.

Bert:well too bad.
