I miss the heydays. We will always be second fiddle at football. At least give us something to get behind. basketball is easier to get ahead in.

People always say this but for me, it's always been the same dozen teams for as long as I've paid attention

Truth.

I think it's harder to succeed in basketball than it is football. Reason being is that there are like 3x the number of teams that you have to compete with. And unlike football, the Gonzaga's of the world can compete with the Dukes and North Carolina's.

That's why awhile back I made the claim that making the tournament was the equivalent of a top 25 finish in football.

If we want an elite program, we need an elite coach. I'd like to see them make a run at Jay Wright from Vilanova or that dude from Wichita State.

why in the hell would Jay Wright ever leave NOVA? I mean this has got to be the most ludicrous shite I've seen in years. Not just that you actually think Jay Wright would consider leaving NOVA but that we could convince him to come here?? Lmfaoooooooooooooo. Holy shite I haven't seen something so stupid in years. Kentucky could come calling and Jay Wright would still turn them down.

I maybe misspoke. I meant to say I want to see them go after coaches of that caliber. Not that I think we would get Jay Wright. He's been there at Vilanova for like 2 decades. I put it better in the other thread, I think. We need someone who would be a clear upgrade from Mike. Big name for big bucks. The problem is finding someone like that who hasn't been at their job since forever.

ETA: I do think we could potentially land Gregg Marshall from Wichita State. I know other programs have tried to hire him, but it is certainly worth offering. Arkansas has a lot to offer a good coach. It would be easier to win it all here than where he's at, we could pay top dollar, and the University has just shown they'll give a good coach ample opportunity to succeed. Keeping Mike for as long as we did is a good thing.

So building a team of 10 VS 90 in football and getting into a 64 team tournament for a shot at a natty is tougher than getting to a 4 team tourney for football? Are you high?

Would’ve thought the same but Marshall’s not interested in the job. Have a contact in the WSU AD that is close with Marshall that asked him if he would be interested and he said no. Interesting enough he said Marshall told him Sampson would be interested to what we had to say if the position came open and we reached out. Remember Sampson helped push for Yuracheck to get the AD job at Houston

*This is meant to be read in Sam Elliot's voice*

I'm never not high. Not braggin about it; it's just the way it is.

Seriously though, if they make a move on Anderson they'll have to go get a really big name. If they were to fire Anderson, hire an "up and comer" who failed, there would be hell to pay. On many fronts.

I want a mid major guy who brings in top recruits to his college. I want guys who know bagmen, and middlemen, and cheat like a mother.

Nobody remembers who vacated a title, they just remember who won it.

I want someone who has an established track record of winning more than 70% of their games and has won multiple conference titles.

I think that should be the bar. Otherwise, we need to keep Anderson. He wins about 66% of his games. Need a clear upgrade.

I'd be happy with a coach that won 66% of their games, been to a sweet 16 at least once in 8 years and a coach that doesn't lose to the likes of W. Kentucky and Ga Tech in year 8.

This, and he knows the bagman and gets elite recruits.

Put this together, and we will be golden. Someone has to know a nike agent who is funneling players to Nike schools. Find a coach that knows him. Bring him here. Win.

Ps i am high

In that case we may as well keep Mike. He made the sweet sixteen by beating UNC on the court. He just didn't beat the refs too. Everyone here who is being honest with themselves should realize the Sweet Sixteen bar is not a very strong argument.

And it doesn't matter if the coach brings in the elite recruits or not if he doesn't win more than Anderson is winning. We would just be right back where we are now. Except maybe next time you would say you want a coach who has made an elite eight.

Sounds to me like you just want it to be anyone other than Anderson, to be honest. Which is fine. I think it's time to move on too, but I think we should look to do better if we are gonna can the guy. He has done a lot for this program. He deserves respect.

He has been payed well for his mediocre 8 years.

He can run down the road to his alma mater and get a job.

I don't know what it is, PIO, but some of these guys are pathetic. These guys are promoting change for the sake of change even if you know going in we wouldn't be any better than we are now.

It makes zero sense.
