No but I was at that freezing cold Cotton Bowl the year we fired Nutt and Reggie Herring was coaching. The wind was blowing straight into our side of the stadium. I've never been so cold in my life. Had to buy an overpriced hoodie to survive. Then we laid an egg and I regretted even coming.

Can your kid make a kick under pressure?
Posted on 9/21/24 at 12:41 am to Gaston
could have used him in oklahoma state game.

He definitely didn’t kick that as hard as he can. That was a 90%, smooth AF kick. Pretty awesome how little that was in doubt.
Can see it better here.

Does he use a block or does he kick off the ground? Not that it matters it’s an impressive kick regardless

He’s been off the ground since the 8th grade.
Posted on 9/21/24 at 8:44 pm to JeffLebowski
Can he reclassify and start tomorrow?

Effortless. NFL caliber leg and still a kid.

Are his grades good enough he can transfer in immediately? Just, you know, curious. We all want our student athletes to excel on and off the field... and arrive on campus as early as possible. Tomorrow would be a good time.

That’s awesome, congrats. I look forward to watching him as a Hog.
I can’t see the videos well but does he kick straight on vs “soccer style”? His form looks more like old school kickers.

No kickers are straight on anymore. Kickers used to get wide, but in general it’s a pretty narrow approach these days.

Did you help train him? He looks to have tremendous natural talent, which is great, and his fundamentals look very solid.

No, not even. I brought him out to kick and got the balls back to him.
I brought him to a kicking camp in the 8th grade, on recommendation from a TD poster (Barrister) who had a kicker son. He started kicking off the ground at that camp and made a 52 yarder to tie another kid for the miss-and-you’re-out competition. That coach (Cam Little’s kicking coach) offered to train him for free if I got him to Orlando the upcoming February. That fella changed everything…and Evan was smart enough to take it all as law and just figure out how to kick with that new form. Made him the most accurate kicker in the country…I guess distance is something more attributable to talent…but you have to chart well to make the finals at camp. He was the top charter and won the FG comp at 4 national invitationals in a row, over 2 years. Following those camps he had a tryout at Arkansas, probably 25 kicks…didn’t miss any.

You absolutely made the right decisions and helped your son develop into a great player.
Development and training are so important. Take our starting QB, Green, as an example. The guy is just loaded with natural talent. Great arm strength, tremendous speed.... and you can tell he hasn't had a solid QB coach training him up until now. Green makes a lot of basic mistakes a good coach would have corrected by now because it is obvious that he wants to learn.
I look forward to watching him play for the Hogs, though we might only get to see him for a couple of years if he follows in Cam's foot steps and goes pro early.

Who's the fig that downvotes this?

Idk if you can answer this or not, but would you say fountain is a bigger part of his commitment or Pittman? Just wondering for players does the head coach matter more or the position/coordinator for them
Posted on 9/23/24 at 3:18 pm to Hawgnsincebirth55
Fountain for sure. He’s been coming down to evaluate him for years…travels to away games…matter of fact he’s traveling down to see him play in Tylertown MS…Literally middle of nowhere.
His recent work with Cam and Jake are tough to beat…most special teams coordinators don’t know shite about kicking or kickers or what it takes to develop them. Scott isn’t a kicking coach, he just has a developed schedule and tons of data. My boy will effectively have an opportunity to ‘kick against Cam’ at every charting session. Pretty cool.
