Arkansas will make a bowl, they just aren't able to overachieve every single year. This year brings fans back on solid ground.

Don't quite understand what you mean by overachieving.

Let's forget about matchups for a second and just look at the programs on our schedule

Cinci - G5 school in a rebuilding year

South Carolina - comparable program, but their coach is earlier into his tenure. We should be a step ahead

Missouri State/Liberty - we should never lose to these programs

Texas A&M - Better resources. More prestigious coach. But we own them historically and beat them last year. They're starting a new QB while we have continuity. I'm not saying we should write this one down as a guaranteed W but I wouldn't call it overachieving

Alabama - Ok, this would be an overachievement

Miss State - We are the better program, better resources. Coaching I give us an edge.

BYU - This will be a tough one. Good program. But we recruit well above their level every year. Certainly a plausible loss but winning here is not an overachievement

Auburn - better program historically with better talent, but at the moment our program is more stable. Head coach in his 2nd season. New QB. We have the coaching edge. Not an overachievement.

LSU - Better resources, but they have a losing overall record over the last two seasons, a new head coach and we beat them on the road last year. Getting them at home this time. Definitely not an overachievement to win this one

Ole Miss - Comparable program. Comparable coaching. Losing their future NFL QB. We get them at home. Not an overachievement.

Mizzou - Comparable program. Inferior coaching and probably inferior talent. Home game. Not an overachievement

Of 12 games I can only identify 1 that would be a real overachievement to win this year.

Not saying I'm predicting we go 11-1, but I don't think it would be an overachievement if we did, when you consider where are program is compared to those on our schedule

South Carolina is in better shape than other two right now. LSU and Auburn and still dealing with off the field problems and QB issues.
Spencer rattler has never proven himself to be an elite qb no matter how many talking heads on ESPN tried to speak it into existence. I don’t believe South Carolina is in a much better qb situation than say lsu

Yep but Arkansas is going to miss him in earlier games this year. This is why it is overzealous to put Arkansas at 10-2 or better with some issues they will have on both sides of the ball. Mainly it is depth and Arkansas usually has someone good get hurt every year. Burks is a good enough player to get you two extra wins. Finding a go to WR early in the year will be tough.

He doesn't have to be elite to give the Arkansas defense trouble but average SEC QBs can still be a problem for a defense that is rebuilding at linebacker and has a spotty pass rush. Then you add in that this will be the first SEC game without Burks and unless a go to WR comes out and has a big game then the offense will struggle in the air. That is enough of a concern that while Arkansas should win this game, it could let South Carolina hang around and win.

bro I loved grant and Hayden but drew sanders is light years better than both of them we will be better at linebacker this year than we’ve been in possibly 20+ years. I agree we need a better pass rush but honestly I expect to be able to hammer the ball on the ground and get past cincy and South Carolina with smash mouth football. Plus I’d say bringing back KJ off sets the learning curve a little bit from losing burks. But the fact we’ve got 4 2 plus year starters retuning on the offensive line plus the backfield we’ve got is what makes me comfortable going into the first few games

KJ goes down, all bets are off.
Hopefully the OL can protect him better this year.

9 wins and a stellar year for the young man would be my way to early prediction.

Maybe or not and that remains to be seen of Drew Sanders. Morgan and Henry were not NFL talent but they still provided quality depth and now with them gone, both Pool and Sanders have no one to rotate them in and out. If Morgan and Henry weren't super seniors then this area would have been the strength of the defense. Arkansas had more depth at LB than they ever had since they joined the SEC. Pool, Morgan, Henry and yes to a lesser extent Parker. Now they have gone back to being dangerously thin at LB.

A good running game would be enough to squeeze out a victory with Cincinnati however South Carolina will load the box with eight or nine. Who does Jefferson throw to? You can't run with that many in the box and Carolina will force Arkansas to throw. If Arkansas doesn't establish a passing game then they will have a hard time moving the ball.

It is nice having the QB and the offensive line back but you got to keep defenses honest and just running each play makes you predictable and easier to stop.

We beat Penn state who I’d say Penn state last year will be just as good if not better than SCAR this upcoming season and that was with only a month without burks to prepare not an entire off season and an off season to work KJ without burks and all the other receivers to take a step forward not to mention the addition of hazel wood and sategna or whoever else we may get in the portal. If South Carolina puts 8 in the box I fully expect us to torch them. Tyson morris was no world beater but was still good enough to take the top off Texas last year when they started to stack the box because we were mauling them on the ground
