Was Petrino the defensive coordinator too or something?

Petrino lost my support by riding TG the entire season. Green is Bobby's biggest bust of his career imo.
Green was #1 in the country in total yards individually. I'm not the biggest Green fan in the world, but it's not that hard to see why he wasn't benched.

I was going to mock you but... it seems cruel. I suspect you know Petrino doesn't have it anymore. But it brings back memories of better times.

So. Maybe we hire him full time. A full five year contract. You can get your wish. Let's see how it plays out.

You aren't arguing with matters of opinion. You're arguing with raw data. It's the exact same offensive output that everyone on this board thought Petrino walked on water for 15 years ago.

Feign superiority all you want. We have the 3rd worst defense in P4 and you're tunneled on Petrino's offense.

Not quite the same. We have 20 turnovers, among the worst in the country.

It's exactly the same. We averaged 1.8 turnovers a game in 2010. We average 1.8 turnovers a game in 2025.

The only difference is we had a top 50 defense in 2010 and have the 126th ranked defense in 2025.

Boston College and Oklahoma State are the only defenses in P4 that give up more points than we do, and both of those defenses still manage to force more turnovers than we do.

I already said you are right.

Let's roll out a five year contract for Bobby P. Come on. Let's all sign up for it. Do you want Bobby Petrino to be our coach for the next five years?

Not, well, sure, his offense turns to shite when the game is on the line. That is established. Do you want Bobby Petrino to spend the next 5 years as the Arkansas HC?

Make your case. Sing it to the stars. Preach the holy gospel of what we have seen this year mandates another 5 years of this. Don't be shy.

Don't be all, well the powers that be won't take it. No. Preach it to us. Preach that Bobby P should be the guy for the next 5 years. Go all in on this.

It depends on who we're actually fishing for. If we can get a Riley or Campbell I'll be pleased.

Other than that I'd rather keep Petrino than have some coach that's never been the head guy in the P4 before cutting his teeth in the SEC. Don't see how that would be any different than giving Petrino time to rebuild the defense himself.

No I could see keeping him as OC. Not as HC.

Dude, ya being an azz...

I'll bite. BP hasn't forgotten how to scheme a offense, and his use of TE's may be one of the most beautiful things I have seen. He has messed up a bit with the Qb choice, but... that can be remedied imho.

So, just give us a top 55 Defense to begin with, a NIL WAS....and we would wreck shop my man.

It won't happen because of the idiot savant knuckledraggers who would throw a fit. We will wind up with an up and comer, to be up and outer here within 3-4 years.

If you were a part of the old Hogsportstalk years ago, I posted a copy of BP's playbook while at Louisville. Algebraic formulas and all. My wife, a math prof... looked at it and said, he was a genius. He has expanded his plan a bit since then.

When visiting with BP, I brought it up, met for about 20 minutes... he is a genius, we are fricked .. most likely. I will give it a few months to see how our newly minted SEC HC will bring folks together, wether he gets the $$$$ needed... or not. But, BP is my choice period. Carry on doofus!

There's this "tale as old as time/so sick of this song and dance" tone to your post, but we don't even hire up-and-comers. We've never once hired a rising star at a lower league. That's really the part that infuriates me the most. There are some exceptions, but for the most part, you hire someone who's been winning at a high cut as a head coach in Division I FBS football. It's always a bit of a crapshoot, but that's generally the best metric you have if someone is a good coach. Extra credit if they built/rescued their football program and didn't take over a well-oiled machine when the previous guy got hired away to a bigger brand. Pass or fail, that's the thing that makes sense and minimizes your chances of failure.

But we hired Chad Morris with three years HC experience and a losing record at SMU, and then a career offensive line coach. To the most predictable results imaginable.

Well I got some bad news for you. They struck out on Campbell, Riley, Franklin and Dillingham. Now we are stuck with Kane Wommack or Eric Morris.

Unless Wommack were to keep BP, which I don’t see happening, we won’t be make any meaningful improvements with either one of those guys as head coach IMO. Winning 5 games next year instead of 2 doesn’t really move the needle for me

I'm serious. Go right ahead. If we aren't going to get a good coach hire Petrino. The worst thing we can do is get an average coach and limp along for a few more years.

If we hire Petrino for a few years at least our big hire down the road won't have to deal with a vocal minority of fans complaining that if we had just given Bobby more time he'd have us playing for a national title.
