The point was he had to completely rebuild the Oenn State program.

He didn’t do that. Bill O’Brien did. Franklin took over about the time they were coming out of the sanctions. BOB was 24-15 almost the same % as Franklin.

BOB was pretty bad. He was losing to Ohio State by 50 points.

In the east. When the only up school was South Carolina under spurrier. It was after Urban had left. Pinkle. Dooley or Butch, joker Phillips at KY, Richt coasting..

I’ve already refuted that in the past. In 2012 there was 3 11+ win teams just in the East.

Franklin still took the job with Penn State under sanctions and a program with one of the biggest black eyes in the sports history.

O'Brien was 15-9 at Penn State

Because everyone is acting like football hasn’t changed in 13 years, and he hasn’t put up 13 years more of data

He has put up good numbers in each modern era of football. To say otherwise is just dumb.

He won 18 games at Vanderbilt his final two seasons there. Both school records for wins. In 2012 the SEC East had three teams with 11 or more wins (Georgia, Florida, & South Carolina). In 2013 the SEC East had two teams with 11 or more wins (Missouri & South Carolina).

He won 11 games three times from 2016-2019 with a 9 win season as the only year to not reach 11 wins in that four year span.

In the new era of the CFP, he went 34-8 with a 2-1 CFP record and 2 NY6 bowls.

Again...maybe you can dislike him for taking a job not many coaches in the nation wanted when he went to Penn State. Or maybe you just do not like the guy...but to downplay his accomplishments as a coach is flat out dumb.

It's funny - a lot of people would rather take a shot at a mostly unknown - someone like Sumrall who's never shown what he can do at the p4 level, only been a HC for a few years.

I think it's because he hasn't shown his flaws yet. So people are still able to suspend disbelief and think he could be the next Saban. Even though probably half the time these up and comers don't pan out when they take the next step.

Compared to a guy like Franklin - we already know he has flaws that people can focus on. Even though he's had more success at this level of CFB than 90% of coaches ever will, you don't get to suspend disbelief and think he's some coaching god.

His overall record is marginally better than BPs with most of his time coaching at a top 5-10 national program.

He’d never come here anyway. He will have his choice if multiple top 10 jobs whether it’s next year or the year after if he takes some time off.
