Allen should be, but he isn't.
He was interviewed on the SEC Network before the season started, and one thing that stood out to me was that he said the coaches told him he needed to step up and be more of a leader. That sort of stood out to me at the time.

That's why I think we gotta give Kelley a chance. Maybe not this week, but soon. We need to see how the team responds.

Yeah, a little more edge maybe wouldn't hurt but I don't think that's the biggest problem.
There are two primary things that I see:
1. Team speed.
2. Offensive tackles.

I think our problems run deeper than that.
We have a broken QB, a poor and inconsistent OL up and down the line outside of Ragnow, virtually no SEC caliber defensive linemen outside of Agim, no depth at linebacker, bad special teams, and terribly inconsistent playcalling and game planning. On top of that, we have no physical or mental toughness, no leadership, and a team with a lot of quit in it. Oh yeah, and a lower tier Big Ten coaching staff.
So basically we're lacking most of the tangibles and all of the intangibles.
To quote Gene Kranz in Apollo 13, "what do we have on this spacecraft that's good?"

I'd counter that to say that in addition to Ragnow, Froholdt and Gibson (when at guard) aren't that bad at all.
Poor tackle play and holding the ball too long are what caused Allen to be broken.
