The mom jean shorts made a huge comeback. I think it's fizzling.

Fashion is cyclical. It seems every 5 year subset of a generation has to go retro and bring something off the wall back into vogue.

I think acid wash denim is the next fad to come. Starter jackets from the early 90's has been gaining lots of steam too.

Oh jesus, if the cowboys win the Superbowl I'll probably have to move to Canada.

I found an old Chicago Bulls starter jacket while cleaning out my parents attic and thought "I'm so glad these went out of style"

Yeah, that's not good either.

If anything comes back from the 80s, it should be the more tailored, classic or preppy look. It wouldn't hurt for them ( some of the girls) to look like they've showered & groomed in the last week, or so.

Thought this was cute and actually contains some good points.

I must admit I sometimes like the high waist shorts on girls who have the arse to pull it off. When it's done right it doesn't look like a mom shorts thing at all. I'll have to find a picture on the intergoogles to post when I'm not at work.

I've also noticed 3 piece suits coming back in.

I've got an awesome 3pc gray suit I bought at a thrift shop for 5 bucks a long time ago that is now fashionable as shite. I liked to throw on the wingtips and go Gordon Gecko like a MF'r.

If the shorts are high waisted, a more nautical or dressy style is preferable, IMO.

These aren't bad.

These are good & always my favorites.

These are horrible.

My fupa has buttons. Deal with it.

I think the style is popular to hide the damage done by years of hanging 5lbs of weight via the gawdy belly button rings.

Well, damn, did not know that. That's awful, but I bet I have some old acid washed arm pit waisted jeans in a box somewhere that I could cut off & sell.

There it is. Yet another evil of body piercings. Belly button rings have led to the return of one of the worst fashion mistakes in history - the "mom" high waisted jeans & cut offs.

I think every generation returns to whatever style they "just missed" living through.

Early 70s stuff seemed to be big in the mid 90s, because the early to mid 90s kids in high school and college never really lived through the awful 70s fashions.

So to them, it was suddenly "cool".

The kids in college right now were born in 1991-1995, so anything popular around or right before that era is going to appeal to them. Mom jeans were huge in 1991-1992. It wasn't until the 70s styles started coming back hard in the 94-96 period that low rise everything started being the norm.

I'm definitely not a fan of the dirty, grungy hippy look, either, but I will say, I'm really glad lower waisted jeans for women made a comeback. I cannot imagine wearing the mom jeans again. Besides unbelievably unflattering, having your rib cage cinched everyday is awfully uncomfortable. Glad I wasn't living during the centuries when women had to wear corsets. I would've rebelled and burned mine.
