I had purchased a bit over 8,000 ripple a few years ago for around $75.

I sold it all off today for a bit over $25,000.

That'll put a dent in my Catamaran fund :)

The major players are Bitcoin, Ethereum and Ripple. Bitcoin is the most widely known and accepted, but it isn't fundamentally as strong as the others. Ethereum is likely the best and it is mineable, while Ripple is not mineable but is used heavily for commodities trading in the Middle East.

If you have some money you don't mind losing, you should probably check out the markets and consider tossing some in. The ROR is nuts.. and is being driven by the Russian desire to avoid losing billions of dollars in sanctions.

Just something to keep in mind.

Would you mind explaining how you sold it off?

Other than the futures on the CME, its confusing to me how you actually "sell it off" given it isn't on an actual exchange.

Detail of how you actually get back into USD are what concern me.

You can transfer any of the coins/tokens to BTC/ETH etc. and then to an exchange like Coinbase which can deposit USD right into your bank, PayPal, etc.

There are multiple cryptocurrency exchanges that will convert between currencies both electronic and fiat.

Coinbase is the most popular.

Thanks for this post.

This is something I had been considering for a bit now. I think I'll throw some coin at it myself

Thanks again.

Over 250 million copies of monopoly have been sold with an in game currency of about $30,000

There's a total monopoly market capitalization of $12 trillion in monopoly money.

The cryptocurrency market has a capitalization of just over $700 billion in US Dollars :)

I know a guy. You can find him in Rogers Rec pretty much any night of the week after 10pm

That's the key part here. It turned out fine for some people, and Holy shite would I like to turn 75$ into $25k, but don't bet the house on it, guys. It's gotten way too popular way too quick and with the swings in price, it's the same as heading over to Siloam for a night. Just like with the stock market right now, when optimism is up, you should be getting nervous.

With more and more exchange options, short selling is going to cause huge swings.

Not sure what out there is even a viable option to get into anymore.

As long as there is movement, there is money to be made :)

All investments carry risk. Typically the higher the potential return, the greater the risk. Cryptocurrency is definitely a risky venture so definitely do not put more into it than you're willing to completely lose.

Diversity is key. Big picture for stocks is still favorable although we're due for volatility, there are deals out there, just hard to find.

Gold probably isn't a bad holding right now but only if you're betting against the market.

International stocks or bonds seem attractive right now also. Intl stocks outperformed the US last year and that trend should continue.

Where have you read up on this and can I get out of every currency position at one specific site?

What sites do you recommend for actual purchases?

What proves I've actually even bought something?

decided against a $4000 investment in bitcoin when it was below $10. kicking myself for not doing it ever since.

ETA: not kicking myself as much as the 4chan beggar who paid 10000 bitcoins for 2 pizzas.

I’m going to wait for the first balloon to bust and then consider jumping into it.
