Hey everyone I am looking for advice for an issue I am having at college.

I have a Comp teacher who is a complete a-hole and when I seek help he keeps referring me our keys for writers book instead of addressing my issues.

I'm not a traditional student I just turned 30 on Thursday and I am not knowledgeable with MLA and the best at writing papers. My teacher says I'm a top 3 student when it comes to grades and how I am in the class. This is a community college that I am using my GI Bill for.

To add to that, I haven't been feeling well this semester because I have been waiting to get my wisdom teeth out. I had a confirmed date for surgery set back in May for Nov 9th. The VA in Chicago called a few weeks ago after all this time and said I got bumped because I wasn't a priority. Anyways, I gave up hope, but started feeling very sick. I went to the VA clinic on my birthday and got antibiotics. I felt even worse on Friday so I drove to the actual VA hospital and they said that I need surgery immediately. They don't have a surgeon so they called private surgeons and I have a date on Monday. The paper is due Tuesday. I have 6/8 pages done, but I feel bad when I sit at the computer.

I contacted the division chair and she said she doesn't even accept late work with doctors notes. I asked if there is any medical hardship that I could drop the class without punishment and she said no. It honestly seems like the humanities department gives no cares and said I should know this. However, I've taken Eng 007 and Comp I and never learned. When I mentioned this to the chair she said that I should know it anyway.

Honestly I bust my arse and I feel pretty demotivated because of this. Any suggestions?

Also sry if my txt is bad I'm typing this while on my phone in bed. Just stressing bad.

This was last week after he said to schedule a meeting. Just so you can see what I'm dealing with here.

quote:

Good Morning Matt,

Just seeing what time you will be in your office tomorrow so we can discuss the 6 page assignment. If you can, please let me know what times tomorrow you will be free. Thanks!!

Respectfully sent,
Andrew

quote:

Andrew,

On the first day of the term, I gave the class my office hours for the semester. On Fridays, I shared that day, I'm normally there between 8:00-9:00 a.m. However, tomorrow I'm at Spoon River College for a one-day conference.

I'll be here all next week, specifically in the office, on the days and times I have scheduled office hours. If you don't have those written down in the course's booklet, you can find my office hours--and those of all full-time faculty members--by visiting the following link:

Matt

Bless you dear. How much more do you have to complete it? Sounds like you’re miserable but if you’ve already got that much done then maybe just trudge through it and be done. Then mentally give your a-hole teacher the middle finger.

I have 6/8 pages done it's an analytical research paper addressing if the NFL should implement a D league to remove pay for play and to educate others on how difficult it is to play professionally.

I could knock it out but honestly feeling sick and lost not knowing what to do with no help. I talked to a friend and she said she would do it, but honestly I don't think shell put in the effort so it's freaking me out more.

I've literally never been taught to introduce sources and basic MLA and like I said everyone I approach won't help me. Even in conferences I've asked questions about my punctuation and he makes me feel like I'm ignorant.

My advice as a former teacher in college:

If a student ever asked me a question that was on the syllabus, I would always just give them the answer because it was the easiest solution and common courtesy. HOWEVER, there are teachers out there like this one who will say "It's on the syllabus," even though they could just tell you. These people are assholes, and they exist.

My advice is to always try to find the answer to your question with all the resources at your disposal before you ever ask someone.

As for the paper, what is the topic? We can help you bullshite two pages if that's all you have left.

I'd love nothing more. This guy made a course book that he refers to himself and policies that says he can drop me for arguing.

I don't understand why ppl are like this and I told that to the chair and she didn't care. I said that I've learned more from Jean Ives/keys for writers than him.

It's a 8 page analytical paper about the NFL developing a D league to get rid of pay for play. I have 3-4 references already but need 8 from 3 different places.

Do you have an email? I could shoot you my paper real quick, so you can see where I'm at. I don't have my MLA on the paper but I can send requirements with pictures.

Yup, that type of thing doesn’t exactly encourage a person. I had a call like that with a help guy for the business system we run at work just a couple weeks ago. I was trying to set up a vpn for the first time and he acted like it was inherent knowledge a person should have. He made me go pretty full on bitch mode by the end of the call. Two weeks later I find out that we don’t have the vpn right now for windows 10 only up to 7 which I have 10 so we’re gonna have to ‘buy’ it. Anyway, who’s the dumbass now help person?

The only advice I can give you is to persevere. Finish the bastard and then at the end of the semester give your prof a scathing evaluation.

Exactly as I always thought, Stone’s not a real a-hole just pretends to be.

I honestly feel like you all are good ppl. If I didn't feel the friendship over the years I wouldn't have asked. Just feel lost and you guys and gals seem helpful in situations. Im just that type that hates asking.

Same reason with my teeth I gave up hope and it got worse.

Never give up, especially when things get rough. I know, its much easier said then done.

And while I enjoy arguing with Stonehog he's a class act to help you when the chips are down.

how much would you pay for freshman, sophmore and junior level writing classes?

MLA, chicago style, apa...

There is a reason why I saved all my papers on a flash drive.
