As I posted in another thread, Drew asked McDonald on Sunday if he'd be his coach at Arkansas for a few years because he was worried that McDonald had done a lot of jumping around in his career. McDonald told him he's sure he'll be up for an OC job or something at some point but his plan was to be at Arkansas. Well, good eye, Drew. Looks as if McDonald's headed to Syracuse. Here's what Drew had to say about this morning's reports: "Dang.. Oh well! Lookin forward to meeting the new WR coach now! Wish the best to him!"

I'm sure this is going to happen but it still isn't confirmed by Arkansas or Syracuse

for the Syracuse

Seriously WTF?

OC job

Still not that big of an upgrade imo. He likely doubles his salary but Syracuse is a team thats sliding down the hill. I wouldn't be envious of them.

Pretty impressive that Drew had done his research on McDonald and called him on it.

Glad to see he is resilient and not pissed.

I was pretty excited about Coach McDonald. I guess that's what happens when you build an all-star staff. :kicksdirt:

Per TB

Sources tell me:

Randy Shannon is staying.

McDonald turned down $100,000 raise a week ago to be the Titan's WR coach (Leave Arkansas alone Dowell Loggains!, haha), but an OC opportunity is a stepping stone to a head coaching job, and there are really only like 60 good-to-decent OC jobs out there for a college coach.

It is official now.

UNIVERSITY OF ARKANSAS FOOTBALL

STATEMENT FROM ARKANSAS FOOTBALL HEAD COACH BRET BIELEMA

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The following statement is from University of Arkansas football head coach Bret Bielema:

“I have accepted George McDonald’s resignation from the Arkansas football team as he has decided to pursue other career opportunities. When you set out to assemble one of the top coaching staffs in the country, the group will consist of individuals who are highly respected and highly sought after. I have always tried to hire coaches who possess the qualities and ambition to move up in our profession. I wish George the best of luck in the future as an offensive coordinator at a major university.”

I won't matter. They'll never stop spinning it that Malzahn stole Horton from us.

Arkansas: Sources tell me Hutchinson CC offensive coordinator / quarterbacks coach Tommy Mangino has accepted the offensive grad assistant job at Arkansas. Josh Gooch will replace Mangino as the offensive coordinator at Hutchinson CC.

That is HUGE to be honest, Hutchinson is one of the top JUCO's in terms of producing talent. Establishing a pipeline there is fricking fantastic news.

4 star WR Jatavius Stewart who we were already recruiting certainly has to like this.

4 star Toby Johnson, a DT, and 4 star Ben Bradley, also a DT.

Didn't realize he was Hutch's OC. Now we have two coaches with Hutch ties.

Bielema told Devon Allen that a new WR's coach would be in Arizona to see him next week, but he couldn't give a name because a deal isn't finalized.

So, sounds like he's got a guy ready.

I think it'd be hilarious if we poached Zach Azzanni away from TN.
