Agreed, and I suppose that battles felt like it wasn't going to stay up long enough to peek at buprophen. Luckily it worked out.

Ibuprofen was calling him off though
This.
In the replay he was clearly saying ball ball ball ball but maybe it wasn’t loud enough.

All Eric Cole had to do was take charge of the situation and call him off.
I’ve been saying this for 4 years and you’re the first person I’ve seen echo this. Maddening to watch Cole jog to that ball. Anyway we’re gonna end the year on a 5-game win streak and we’re not gonna talk about 2018 ever again.

I didn't see it, just saw battles calling it.

That's the RF's ball all day, just like tonight's was the LF's ball if you know the positioning. Shaddy calling Cole off cost us big, but if you're not getting called off yourself I agree that you have to go after it.

They showed a replay close up of ibuprofen saying “ball ball ball ball” but also battles had lots of momentum so he may not have had a chance to get out of the way.

Do we start the medicine man instead of Gregory tomorrow or roll with the chance that Gregory gets on once or twice and plays good D?
With the game being at 3pm central, that sun is going to become an issue by the late innings.
We quite literally can’t get less production at the plate from Ibuprofen than we’ve been getting from Gregory.
His glove has been stellar, but he’s an automatic out and every at bat is somehow worse than the previous one.

Once again, positioning is irrelevant. The infielder doesn’t know what’s going on with the outfielder.
An outfielder can’t be called off by an infielder. The outfielder always has priority, period. If the infielder continues to go for the ball and causes a collision then that’s on them. You absolutely can not stop pursuit if you are an outfielder and can make the catch without leaving your feet.
The ball damn near hit Eric Cole in the foot

Once the IF calls it you have to call it yourself, otherwise he's going to try to catch it

Maybe start medicine man and bring in Gregory in the sun in your face innings?

Correct, that’s my point. Cole should have called off Shaddy. If you are in the outfield and can catch the ball without diving, you call of the infielder even if he’s camped under it.

I didn't even realize DeLucia is first year JUCO transfer, started out in the bullpen with an 8.10 ERA 1.70 WHIP in 20 relief innings.
That is quite the insane turnaround as a starter.

I’m still buzzing from that game.

Anyone think we could see Austin Ledbetter again this year? If we win today we’re desperately going to need to find someone on the bench that can help out.
Ledbetter has made two short appearances in Omaha already and he fills up the zone. Also, the kid won three state titles at Bryant as qb so I don’t think the moment or crowd will bother him.
I know we’ll need to find someone to step up if we want to win it all.

His stuff in the 9th (?) in the first game against Ole Miss was filthy.
We just need to be careful about how/where we call on freshmen pitchers not named Hagen Smith. I'm glad the coaches have already given Ledbetter some experience to get the 'new' out of his system, because they whiffed on not giving Tygart innings against either Stanford or Auburn to knock the rust off after he'd been shelled his last few outings and the moment was too big for him last night.
