They dont look nearly as salty as last year. I'd like that matchup. Especially not having to see Abel

Their ace Kevin Abel is out this year with Tommy John

Casey probably ruined his career pitching him 247 pitches in a six day span.

For sure, the kid could pitch. I wouldn't mind the Cards' drafting him if he makes a strong comeback next season. He'll be in the same draft with Martin and Kjerstad.

I don't believe you are truly genuine in your comparison unless you are referring to a different pitcher than the one I am thinking of.

Is that the guy that basically told DVH that his baseball career was over and to pitch him as much as he wants?

That was 15 yrs ago... The dude threw 85 tops, he was going nowhere. I'm not sure if I read it or head it on the radio when I was stationed in Little Rock, but I'm sure I've seen it somewhere.

There's a quote out there where he says to leave him in because they didn't make it that far for nothing

Just googled it and here’s what I found:

quote:

SHOCKERS SHOCKED

I'll coach my team, you coach yours. That's basically what Arkansas coach Dave Van Horn said after former Wichita State coach Gene Stephenson criticized the way Arkansas used (overused?) pitcher Charley Boyce. Boyce is the reason Arkansas beat Wichita State twice to win the Fayetteville Regional in 2004. In two days, Boyce threw 203 pitches in 14 1/3 innings and won 4-3 to finish off the Shockers. "Maybe it won't hurt his career at all, I don't know, but we would never do that," Stephenson said in the press conference afterward. "That's the difference in philosophy here I suppose." Boyce said at the time and reaffirmed in an interview two years ago he wanted the ball, and didn't mind the extra work.

I’m just bored and read the thread, I offer no opinion one way or the other.

Charley wasn't a big league pitcher, Dave, and Charley knew that. Dave had no BP in 04 and he rode Charley to win the regional.

Thanks Piggi for the linky
