Yeah, as odd as it sounds given the statistical outputs at their respective positions, I wanted to keep Smith and get rid of Thomas, though I wasn't particularly crazy about either of them.

Thomas wasn't cutting it in recruiting and I thought our run game really stalled in the second half of the season in addition to inconsistency and fumbles here and there, whereas I thought our receivers took an enormous leap forward this year. In terms of by-position growth year over year from 2013 to last year, I'd rank it:

1. Linebacker
2. Secondary
3. Receivers
