I got to thinking about this in the thread about Wisky's schedule, and our schedule looks harder every time I look over it. We could be facing 5 potential preseason top 10 teams in Auburn, Bama, Georgia, LSU and Mizzou, and 3 probable ranked teams in A&M, Tech, and Ole Miss and/or Mississippi State.

You see it your way....,Here is how I see it...

Auburn: Will they be as lucky this year? We had success against them a year ago.

Alabama: they have no QB. I was shocked at what I saw during their spring game.

Georgia: They have RBs, but what about a QB. We know, you need one.

LSU: same...QB issues. Lost a lot over the last two years to the draft.

Missouri: not sold on them being near as good this year.

So, maybe I'm the only one who isn't as fearful of our schedule this year, as I was last year. Every team in our league outside of Ole Miss has huge question marks.

My gut feeling was 5 to 6, but I'm feeling worse about it the more I think about the meat grinder our schedule will be.

The way I look at it, the road to a bowl is by winning 3 or all 4 (Tech won't be a cakewalk) OOC games, beating one or both of the Mississippi schools and stealing one we shouldn't from the likes of Georgia (possible), LSU (we always play them tough), A&M (how are they going to be post-Manziel?), or Mizzou. Still, if I had to bet my house one way or the other, I'd go under 6 wins, but I wouldn't feel strongly about that either.

Meh, it's easy to look at the accomplishments and current state of other programs with a jaundiced eye, but I think we need to be honest about where they stand as opposed to what we're working with. One could make the following counterpoints:

Auburn - return a lot from a team that almost won the NC

Bama - always good on defense, and we haven't beaten them since I was a senior at UA (I'm 29 with a wife and kid now).

Georgia - they lost Murray but return a ton of talent on both sides

LSU - same as Georgia, plus their recruiting has been phenomenal

Missouri - don't disagree about last year vs. this year, but they're solid at QB and get us at home

Agree totally. If I'm going all in, I'd have to bet 5, but if we open up with season with a win at Auburn, all bets are off the table. That's the type of victory that can infuse a team with a ton of confidence and make things interesting.

Having one of the hardest schedules year in and year out is one of the things I love about being a Hog fan.

We'll never be given a damn thing, we'll know we earned every win, and we'll forever be the underdog fighting uphill battles against unfavorable odds.

How would you like to be a NCST fan? They play this schedule.

Ga. Southern
Old Dominion
@ USF
Presbyterian
Florida St.
@ Clemson
Boston College
@ Louisville
@ Syracuse
Georgia Tech
Wake Forest
@ UNC

With L'ville and Syracuse joining the ACC it got better for them and that's still a tougher schedule than most but it looks pretty cake compared to ours.

LULZ.

What a slobber knocker of an OOC schedule that one is. It'll be good prep for their ACC run this year.

I hate to say it, but if Brandon Allen doesn't improve significantly it will be a repeat of last year.

Nobody fears our passing game.

Very true, but we'd have also won more games with him last year than without him.

We'd have beaten Rutgers handily if we'd have had Allen instead of Derby, and he played his heart out against LSU and almost came away with a win in an extremely tough place to play if it weren't for the busted play at the end to hand LSU the game.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not going to be buying my son a #10 jersey anytime soon or anything, but I see Allen as a stop-gap who's a middle class man's Casey Dick -- he's good enough to not screw it up if he's surrounded by talent.
