I do not get why people care about this
It's like caring about the trainer or the bus driver
Anyone who doesn’t care about this or keeps saying we have an athletic director for this.. really doesn’t know what the frick a GM does and it’s why we are so far behind it’s laughable.

It’s why OU just hired a major corporation CEO to run its football program. Alabama did it a bit different and let DeBoer(sp) bring his own GM in. My opinion is the GM needs to have not personal ties to the head coach and should be hired by the BOT and should have the final word in the football program, above the AD.
Everything you’ve said has been correct.
No personal ties should happen. A GM should be able to say we are paying Te3 150k this year and we can go get 2 to meet his production and cheaper than what we pay him. One for blocking and 1 for catching.
A coach (especially Sam) is going to play people he likes and who’ve “earned it”. The GM needs to be able to cut dead weight no matter how much Sam likes them. Like KJ 2 years ago.

It's fine for our admin to think about it
Not sure why run of the mill fans need to

By that logic, no reason to think about the coach or the players either.
If you follow the NFL, GMs are every bit as important as the head coach, arguably more

Coaches have offensive philosophies, game plans, etc
I am not a fan of the obsession with NFL contracts, "dead cap" etc. I do not care, I am a football fan. Its a sport. Not a fan of football organization management

No obligation to care about any of it. If you’re asking why people care, it’s be a it’s important to the success of a team

I guess it is just not fun for me. I don't care of we hire a GM, grad assistant, nutritionist, VP of Football of Operations, Razorback Foundation Chief of Counsel or dogcatcher.
I know nothing about NIL and do not pretend to. It is the wild west and completely nonpublic, so anyone else acting like they know anything is probably full of shite
I just care about wins and losses. If I want to evaluate an organizations management I will do it on a public company to determine if their stock is a buy. Pretending to care about the "front office" at UA is just too much for me. I personally think the main people flogging this is ESPN and sports media to get people to care about this shite in order to make it a 365 day product to sell HOGS+ subscriptions or EDGE tshirts or other lame crap
