I think if the nepotisim laws don't count regarding the football staff then why does it matter if a slampiece has a job in the recruiting office?

Dorrell actually would have been really good in the position (and others apparently). LSU's director of on-campus recruiting is a smoking hot black chick.

This whole thing could have been handled hush hush if Larry wouldn't have blabbed and then wanted to get famous for telling his story to the media.

A guy like Petrino is going to hire people he can confide in and totally trust, your mistress is that person.

I hoped Long would've bumped his salary down a mil or 2 and extended the buyout on BP's end. The actuality of is the negative impact on recruiting would not have been overcomeable if Petrino was still our coach after all the FOI and phone records revealed what he was up to.

We have to start from square one on this.

It simply comes down to a matter of egos. BP thought he could do whatever he wanted, when he wanted. Jeff Long didn’t want to look bad for being taken advantage of. Jeff Long was in a position of strength. Jeff Long’s ego wins in the end.

I have gone back and forth on this.

In fact, I think I've switched who I blame every game. I'm just sick any of it happened. I want to get this year over with and start over.

I think the situation could have potentially been handled with Petrino getting a serious reprimand and some sort of monetary penalty, however Long's reputation as a 'leader' would have been damaged a little bit in the national media. I definitely see why Long fired Petrino, especially in order to prevent the potential for lawsuits. That being said, I can't believe that ego had absolutely nothing to do with it.

In response to another poster, I don't think Petrino would have self destructed in other ways. He definitely obviously thought he had the run of the mill in Arkansas, which he did, but he definitely overstepped his bounds.

Spot on beebe. I've lurked in that swamp for several years mainly out of boredom and looking for recruiting news but it has now become worse than during the whole Darksider vs Nutthugger bullshite. I've fired back at some of the more vocal "Bring Back Bobby" morons and now have a "smite count" ten times higher than my total posts (which I wear as a badge of honor).

Petrino will make another program successful...He's an ELITE COACH and could be the best all things considered.

He had to be fired unfortunately...

I'm sure we'll see it come back to haunt us
