Pitt said the 4th down call was intentional and not miscommunication
But why? Unbelievable.... Even if true, don't admit it!

Petrinos biggest strength (pass offense) vs our biggest weakness (pass defense), then factor in our offense shooting ourselves in the foot many, many times is what caused that result Saturday.
One thing that concerns me greatly for our season is the fact that as Shelley proved last night, running QBs will have success against this defense. Our drop 7/8 zone scheme opened up a lot of running lanes for Shelley, and he was able to exploit it for several 1st down runs or long runs to set up 3rd and short.
QBs like Bryce Young and Will Rogers will eat against this defense if we don’t adjust.

Every fan base bitches about coaches not owning mistakes. He owned it. It was a shite call and he owned it.

He said they were in a 7 DB defense. Normally it would work, we just had head up our tail.
His response was the best LINK

How many years has this been an issue?
Too many for me to count.

That is an issue for most defenses.

100%...Pittman said they were not looking ahead. Game play showed that was not the case.

if KJ pulls it and keeps around the end, he'd still be running free right now

I was with my dad at the 10 minute mark in the fourth quarter, 27-17. He told me that he couldn't take a loss like this. We agreed to leave because I wasn't going to watch Missouri State storm the field and lift Petrino in the air as some type redemption story.
I'm with you on that

The football team, fans and the program don't deserve a loss to that prick.
the pricks are the media soyboy cucks who ran around like banshees doing FOI's on his phone to get him fired because he'd hurt their little feelings, and they were running game for fricktard Gus Malzahn to get the HC job . that's the actual truth you don't get from the Arkansas "media"
Urban Meyer was doing worse at Florida at the exact same time, and Florida media were mostly covering for him, and the little bit that did leak, Arkansas radio hosts screamed like fricking babies on the radio covering for Meyer (i.e., Bo Mattingly, Florida grad)

it was an isolation read option, with the same blocking number advantages as the Wildcat
KJ should have kept it and hit the outside

I get the Malzahn crap and agree, but how do you sweep a state employee hiring his sidepiece without getting the shite sued out of you? They had to can him or face never-ending lawsuits.

it was worse than that. The hiring practices paperwork had been signed by higher ups (interviewing competent applicants and still signing off on one without any experience whatsoever) because of the success BP was having. It was a tangled web of mess. There are a many reasons BP didn't sue the UofA for firing him...
I like his offensive coaching, I do not like his offensive actions. He, along with Long caused much of this mess.

I think way to many people are over reacting to this game. This was a perfect storm of things that can go badly all happening in the first quarter.
1. 2 bad fumbles from normally solid ball carriers, one inside the 1 yard line.
2. Extremely bad tackling even from normally solid tacklers.
3. Just bad luck on several plays.
4. Over confidence leading to substandard effort.
But at the end we won. Something that wouldn't have happened for most of our teams in the last decade. I don't like it but sometimes getting slapped early on is a heck of a wake up call for later in the season.

How did Jeff Long not know about it? He had to approve the hire for Petrino.

There’s a difference between approving a headcount and a budgeted amount to pay for that headcount and approving the specific candidate chosen.
I work for a large public company and our CEO approves all headcount we open but doesn’t touch anything to do with the actual offer unless it’s a direct report to him. It’s been similar at every other public company that I’ve worked at or with.
I don’t know the University of Arkansas policy around hiring but I could easily see a scenario where he wasn’t aware of the actual person hired and their background. Happens all the time in my world.
