Our game last year against Bama is being replayed on the SECN right now. I watched it for a few minutes and during that time they were talking about our pass defense. They were saying at the time of that game we led the nation in passes broken up with 30. This year going in to the Bama game we are 102nd in the country and dead last in the SEC with 11. That's a pretty big turnaround in the wrong direction. Hopefully we can get that fixed.

we led the nation til the end of the year. I remembered that stat and wondered what had happened. a big suprise is that brooks Ellis actually had a good portion of those pass break ups. I said at the time that Jennings was a huge hire.

The numbers are pretty staggering. Jared Collins led the team with 13 last year. This season he has 1. That's not going to cut it.

it's because of our lack of pass rush. I think now that we have Beanum and Ledbetter we have our pass rush guys out there now. I also fully believe next off season you will see guys trim down some weight. Taiwan and a few others come to mind. agim will help and hopefully a bulked up Bell will help in that dept.

Yeah we only lose two starters off the defense after this season. Trim down some weight and bring in a couple of elite DL and we should see a nice little uptick.

I'm really excited to see how Greenlaw progresses over the next 11 months. That kid is flying all over the field. Once he cuts back in the mistakes then he could be pretty solid.

did you hear the post game interview where rohan (love that kid btw) said that he had been around for 4 years and he is convinced that greenlaw has a gift from god. that as soon as he gets the checks down that he will be an all American easy. I said this earlier in the year. this defense was a year away. next season is really the season that the defense won't take a step back like we expected this season. sadly the offense probably will. we will probably have a top 10 D next year. the offense was supposed to carry the D this year but the injuries took away some of that. next year will look like last year in some ways. sadly this year does as well in some ways.

I didn't hear it but I would believe it. The kid just looks like he has that "it" factor. I wish Ramsey hadn't been a dumb arse. I would have loved to have seen what we could do with a combo of him, Ellis and Greenlaw this year.

Hopefully not everyone expected to go pro on offense does so we aren't completely rebuilding. Collins, JWill, Kirkland and probably Henry are all gone. It would be nice if we could keep Hatcher and Skipper at least. Assuming Skipper gets his shite together for once.

I agree... randy Ramsey looked the part, but wasn't smart.

here is the deal and why I'm saying the offense will take a step back.

1) new QB. sorry there will be an adjustment. BA is playing great overall. hopefully someone comes in and produces the same or better (I'm talking #s wise btw)

2) replacing 2-3 Oline players, most likely 3. guys who have little playing time and will be young will be counted on. young Oline men are usually not developed enough to be as dominant. older is always better when it comes to the offensive line for strength purposes. the offensive line will have to regel.

I believe losing henry will hurt but I will say I have seen austin Cantrell in person and this dude has a chance to be a player of the same caliber in time.

what will be a huge help for the he QB next year will be a very athletic and deep WR core and reed and others will have the playbook down by then. this is the only reason why I am hopeful that losing BA might be mitigated. I am worried about what RB will look like.

I agree. As much as folks like to blame Allen, the offense will most likely take a step back without him. The youth movement is definitely going to start next season. It will be fun to see who steps up.

QB - ?, ?
RB - RW3, ?
FB - Walker OR Jackson OR Cantrell
WR - Hatcher, Reed
WR - Morgan, Edwards OR Mitchell
WR - Cornelius, Robinson
TE - Sprinkle, Gragg OR Kraus
TE - Cantrell, O'Grady
OT - Wallace, Jackson
OG - Allen, Heinrich
OC - Rogers, ?
OG - Ragnow, Merrick
OT - Skipper, Gibson

I believe Gibson is the backup LT at the moment. we will see if wallace gets to be LT next year or if they let Gibson or if they move skipper back. it will be fun to watch. also I am a BA fan. idc what people think the guy does alot more than pass for this offense. we will miss his checks, his progressions, and his ability to read defenses ability and make the right call at the line. I hope our defense will be good enough to pull us through the first half of the season as the offense catches up. I bet we practice running alot more this off season. I hope we get enough reps with whoever wins the starting QB job to get timing down.

It's tough to tell who is the backup LT right now. Wallace played LT the one time the backups actually got to play against UTEP. However, Gibson came in for the one snap last week when Kirkland was out. I lean to Wallace as of now just because he got the extended reps. Although things could have changed in practice in the four weeks since UTEP.

And I agree on Allen. I think we're going to miss him a lot more than folks realize. I would feel much better about the youth on offense next year if we still had him. However, breaking in a new QB on top of all the other guys might get ugly. Hopefully someone emerges in the spring and can spend the summer in the film room and working with the WR's full-time.

the thing that makes me curious is CBB'S comments about how back up QB is the one back up position he is most comfortable with. to me this could either be BS or legit. what would be interesting is if he truly means that and it's legit and AA isn't the starter next season. it would mean that whoever won the job is actually quite impressive. I seen some video of town breaking down film and the guy in highschool was asked to Make checks at the line. it could be possible his personal QB coach training may actually have him ahead of the game for most freshman and he could learn the playbook during his RS year. if austin is the starting QB let's hope that he has alot of his brother in him but let's hope he makes the throw at the end of the game (austin did win the state championship and made the throws to win it late) and he doesn't get rattled being a first time starter, or whoever wins the job hopefully is very poised and mature.

I still like CBB, and I want this to work for him, but I'm not going to trust another thing this staff says until I see it on the field.

I think TT skewed the pass breakup numbers when coach didn't have them playing aggressively enough. I like our talent back there. Collins is playing well and I like the athleticism of Ramirez flying around.

Dean is our weakest link right now, not that he's playing badly but seems the most likely to misread a play. Toliver is a great athlete and playmaker.

We'll have a better idea of what we have back there after tonight, run defense included.

Tolliver has had way more bonehead plays than Dean and missed more tackles
