I think Pittman retired after his extension.

I just think he didn't bother to tell anybody else.

There's no fire, there's no fight and all of our mistakes show bad coaching.

At this point the only real question is whether we're looking for a new coach at the end of year 4 or 5.

Some food for thought. Of the coaches we've had last at least 3 years since we joined the SEC, Pittman is currently only ahead of Bielema in games above 0.500.

Danny Ford finished his third season 2 games above 0.500. Pittman is currently 1 game above 0.500. Bielema finished his third season 2 games below 0.500.

If this team finishes 1-5, then Pittman will be WORSE than Bielema through three seasons. For him to be better than Danny Ford they have to finish 4-2.

For him to tie Petrino, they'd have to finish 6-0 and then win the bowl game.

Another thing to keep in mind is that no Arkansas head coach who lasted at least 3 seasons in the SEC had more than one losing season. Pittman is in danger of being the first with 2 losing seasons.

Didn’t you hear him? They’re just trying to make a bowl game.

The titty milk has dried up.

Really don’t see a point in keeping him after this season if we finish with 1-2 more wins. In danger of losing another average recruiting class? Whooptie do.

Why start all over with new coordinators? He’s still a make a wish head coach that’s got one foot on his boat in Hot Springs.

Make a splash and see if a real HC can build on the “solid” foundation Pittman is allegedly laying.

Sam needs to get his head out of his arse or this season is going to shite. It is time for him to flip the switch and hold people accountable. We are still waiting on that.

Arkansas would get destroyed by all types of media if Sam was let go after this year.

You have to give him every chance possible to pass or fail here before moving on. I think he moves on after the fifth year.

I forgot the 2020 season even existed. I don't count that against him because he likely would have had 6-7 wins in a normal season that year (I'm counting the Auburn game as a win, too).

Unless the program falls off a cliff to 3-4 wins, I figure Pittman gets at least 2-3 more years of Liberty Bowl type seasons and then "retires" after a talk with HY.

By that time, he would have been HC for 5 or 6 years, made around $30M and took the program out of the Chad atrocity.

I'm fine with that, considering where we were when he got here.

Now, it's painfully obvious that the next coach better be a Kiffin/Petrino type who is elite with playcalling, scheming, and qb development or we have all learned nothing over the last 15 years.

I think his staff got comfortable. Did the extension include a big buyout? Because I don’t think Pittman or Yurachek are big on buyouts.

I don’t think Pittman is the kind of man to do that, and I don’t think Yurachek is the kind of man to let him if he was.

Basically he's owed 75% of his remaining salary if his winning percentage is greater than or equal to 50% and 50% if it's under 50%. It does not count the 2020 season so he's currently at 12-7 for contract purposes.

It has a built in automatic annual extension that requires a 7-5 regular season with a bowl win against a power 5 or ranked team or notre dame.

My guess is, based on his contract, he's let go in December of 2024 one way or another.

edit: I would personally surmise that he negotiates a "retirement" that lowers his lump sum buyout but also removes the seek employment clause in his contract.

Well, if that happens his time here will have been a success. He’s pulled us out of the Chad Morris abyss. We just need him to demand more and better from his coordinators, or let them go.

All I want from here on out is go bowling, 6-6 or 7-5 until he retires.

Which of those had to play an all SEC schedule in their first season?

I’m not sold on him, but your comparison is a joke. Fat arse Bert went 0-8 in SEC games his first year Bert had a 7-17 conference record after 3 seasons, Sam is currently 8-14 and 5 of those loses are to Alabama and Georgia.

4* 2024 Benton RB Braylen Russell has decomitted.

Doom and gloom is all we got right now. 0 positives from this team.

$20 says he ends up at Ole Miss along with 4* QB Walker Right. Lane is fixing to open up an express lane into Arkansas.

So...

What you're saying is that in year 2 and 3 Bielema went 7-9 in conference.

Pittman in years 2 and 3 is currently 5-7. To match that 7-9 mark we have to go 0.500 in games against LSU, Mississippi, Auburn and Missouri.

I don't think it's a stretch to say that if we go 1-3 we're on a shite trajectory.

I suspect you’ll see at least 1 hit the portal.

Also, you don’t let a 4* frik Little Rock go to an SEC school because “we have enough rb’s.”

I don’t know about a bad trajectory, certainly a bad year. We have an OC in his third year running a scheme that doesn’t work because the skill set of his quarterbacks does not match his scheme, and he hasn’t recruited one who does. Pretty much the same for receivers.

We have a DC who pretty much doesn’t recruit at all, compounds it by running a scheme that everyone knows cannot work, and should be costing himself a job by continuing to use it when it is obviously not working.

Pittman has to make some hard choices at the end of this season. If he doesn’t, we know that he won’t be the guy more than another year or so.

The RB position is stacked for us. Not an area of need and we have another 4* guy from florida signed. It sucks to lose out on in state talent but neither him or white leave us without a promising guy at their position.

Until two transfer out, and a third is hurt the first game of the season. That’s how fast your season can be over, just like ours is now.
