Because we made the mistake of paying attention to them. Our coaches made a point of getting the team up to play LSU (mostly because it was our last game of the season at the time) and despite their desperate cries about how they dominate the series its dead even over the last decade.

Everyone else ignore the corn dogs whether they win or lose. We didn't and now we are their long lost arch-rival. On the board they hate A&M more but IRL the two programs don't have near the dislike because LSU has been whipping them since they joined the SEC. Bama isn't really a rivalry for them. Until this season Florida was more of an inconvenience on their schedule then anything.

We even made a trophy for the game. To them its like we volunteered to become a far more competitive Tulane.

In time the Aggies might manage to take our place if they start winning games against LSU. But for now we're stuck with them getting fired up for our game.

If we'd won we would also be in line to play in the sugar bowl.
