do you think the la quinta on broadway where I'm staying is walkable to the river market? Especially late saturday night at like 3 am..would it be safe?

I've walked several times downtown late at night. Just don't go where cars don't go. There are a few opportunists that come along ready to mug folks, but they usually stick around in parking lots, and many don't stay up late. The only people still around at 3 am are cops and homeless. Just stick on your main roads and you'll be fine. Park over at the Clinton library if you can swing it - it's watched really well. That said, everything around it is kind of sketchy, because you get into more industrial/residential mix.

If I was going to avoid anywhere on foot downtown, it'd be over by the salvation army, which is still only a three or four blocks from the police station. It's usually pretty benign, but the city just cleared a few homeless camps near the train tracks, and there's a weird war for turf among the homeless. Of course, once you get in that area, you've got Capitol police driving by fairly often too.

I think I read that the LQ has shuttles to/from the airport which is clutch.

I won't need one to/from teh game though as my buddy is swinging by early saturday to get me.

I rarely go, but I will always remember watching a dude physically pick up a girl to take her out of there, only for her to pee all over him. Great times.

Despite having lived very near Midtown, I've actually never been.

I've told my husband that he's going to have to take me one of these days, but I think he's hoping that I'll forget.

ETA:
Looks like Chris Robinson and his special beer will be at Rumba Friday night. LINK

If Midtown is the pool playing place on Main next to where Juanita's used to be I've never been in the place either although I've known some people that liked it ok.

I'm years removed from the LR club scene but if it was me I'd probably just head down to the River Market. I don't know whether they still have lights out hopping clubs like they used to.

It's a shitshow. A delightful shitshow.

I would recommend going on Thursday around 7:00 for Bottle Toss. Throwing bottles at a trashcan is a lot more fun than it sounds. If you are even slightly coordinated, you will win a free round of beer from the last place finisher.

You will smell like you got locked in a windowless room with a chain smoker though.

You need to have your work schedule you for a field trip this weekend so you can visit Nuclear One, maybe do some work there, and then make it to the game.

Jesus War Memorial Stadium is about as safe as it comes. I hate when people bitch about how unsafe the neighboorhood is. There's like 60k people out there, police everywhere and unless you go down asher or go past 12th street you have nothing to worry about.

When did I say WMS is dangerous? I live about a mile from there. I just said I wouldn't walk around downtown at 3 a.m.
