Ah yes, I forgot a reasonable expectation is every freshman to be super heady in two of the highest pressure situations possible.
That is also on Hobbs. I bet guys are just signing up to work here.
Ya'll are a bunch of mouth breathing children who lost your toys.

In walks allowed this year Arkansas was ranked:
#140 in the country
#13 out of 14 SEC programs.
The list of college baseball programs who threw more strikes than Arkansas is very long.
We have a lot of guys who threw the ball hard and sort of knew where it was going.
Development.

I knew Arkansas walked some batters at times but almost last in the SEC is inexcusable for Hobbs.

My first visit to Omaha was in 1979. We were the bridesmaids then also.
I'm old enough to have seen two Natty's. Unless DVH has a change of strategy he'll never win one, whether it be hitting approach or a new pitching coach.
Allowing Wes to go to LSWHO is a huge frick up, imo.

It just goes to show that any team can have all the talent in the world but if the players don't get the development they need then the team will always fall short. As long as DVH keeps both Hobbs and Thompson here then he will never win the CWS. Besides the CWS run, the whole season has been frustrating to watch.

Yea, the pallette injury didn't change the landscape of the staff or anything.

His strategy had us a foul ball away. You're just being dense.
Wes Johnson hasn't recruited or developed anyone of note. 1 year stops at MSU and here and he's Dave Duncan. The way ya'll act, you deserve to be baby back bridesmaids.

Keep picking that low fruit. That dude wasn't Blaine Knight.

It starts on the recruiting trail, and what a pitching coach is considering valuable.
Velocity, Spin Rate, Movement... 'Stuff'. 'Stuff' is fun to watch.
In the case of Hobbs those look to be more important than things like Strikeout to Walk ratio, First Pitch Strike %, Walks Allowed, etc. Things most MLB programs consider pretty important when grading pitchers.

A third rounder?
Yea, I know. He was a projected first rounder.

Peyton Pallette has been a great pitcher. He had better command as an incoming freshman than a lot of our guys who have had multiple years in the program.
Certainly would have made the rotation a lot better.
But taking Pallette out of the equation does not rationalize the inability of the staff as a whole when it comes to getting behind in counts, and ultimately putting more free runners on base than all but one other SEC team.

Alright guys you win.
Let's blow the staff up that has been to 3 CWS in 4 years, a foul ball away from a title and a run away from 4 in 4.
Don't even know why I bother. Ya'll have a good one being miserable.

Johnson got paid $750,000 by LSU and left the Twins who are currently first in the division and are ranked seventh in overall pitching stats. That is pretty good for a first timer in the pros. LSU fans seem to think he is a big hire.

Actually you're typing like factual critique is making you miserable.
We had absolutely lights-out defense behind our pitching this year, and even with the head-scratching approach at times you can't deny the fact that every position player Arkansas fielded was elite at the plate before they ever stepped on campus.
We were ultimately eliminated from the CWS by a life-defining pitching performance.
The reason we were forced to be in that game in the first place had to do with our crap-tastic pitching in the 13-5 loss.

A fan can appreciate what DVH is doing here but still acknowledge that a team still needs improvement and if you aren't improving then you are going the other direction. Other successful programs all from across other sports still make coaching changes at the position level all the time when a glaring weakness might hurt them. If they don't then they will not be able to achieve the goals they desire.
