Yeah, not an attack on hilltop because it's not necessarily HIM saying it's a prerequisite, but I don't get the mindset either. That plus the whole "Texas recruiting master" prerequisite are what's killed us.
Our best coach in the last 20+ years had neither.

He has multiple 9 win seasons at Washington state.
We will miss a bowl game for three straight seasons. Being 500 after you just went 11-2 the season before and finished ranked in the top ten is definitely better than where we are now. It's not like we will ever be Bama turning out 11 win seasons for a decade so it's not really settling

Saban just needs to go away tbh. I respect what hes accomplished, but hes also destroyed CFB. I swear if Bama, Clemson and Ohio State keep going to the 4 team playoff, it will ruin it even more.
If we fire a coach and expect to win, we need someone better than leach. He wouldn't be worth the price and that's what I'm saying. We cannot spend money on shite support staff either. Get a good HC and support, or a cheap upcoming and really good support. I doubt we will find either though.

This is a message board. No decisions are being made here. I replied to someone saying we needed to hire an Arkansas connection. If there is anyone who doesn't believe in that BS it's me. State pride is for losers.
The best Razorback coaches/administrators we've had weren't from Arkansas:
Frank Broyles - Georgia
John McDonnell - Ireland
Nolan Richardson - Texas
Norm DeBriyn - Wisconsin
Dave Van Horn - Missouri
So to recap - I don't believe we need to hire an Arkansan or someone with Arkansas connections that small fry little rock BS. I was just replying to the poster who believed we needed to hire one due to bad luck. I simply gave him a successful coach with an Arkansas connection.

Ugh I wish our admin had the balls to hire briles....
I think leach could fix this mess. He isn't going to be our nolan though.
Clark has some good qualities.
Norvell would at the very least be an upgrade.

I just imagine it would be extra foolish to abandon the DFW recruiting model to turn all your resources here in state. A smaller talent pool.
You see? This is the point where all the bullshite politicking starts. If we don't abandon that madness we may as well just give up on football, IMO. These guys have made some collosal blunders over the recent years.

We need an aggressive coach. I thought chad would have that with his offense, but boy was I wrong. I said the same about Mike too. Mike wasnt aggressive or 100% fixing it.
