He is not a spring chicken so I have to wonder if this is maybe a "I'll possibly win a state title but I can retire in a top 5 best places to live in America" gig?

Which would be fine.Tice should elevate the Farmington program and still get a nice, soft, landing in a place that would be fantastic to retire to.

If all he has to do is coach then I can see why this would be an attractive offer. Even at 72 it’s not easy to get coaching out of your system if you love it and have been successful at it.

And a really nice spot to land as well. Good for him.

This is a head scratcher for sure. It’s been almost a decade since he coached. I would have thought we could have attracted a currently more high profile head coach than this.

Basically the same thing. The premier academic and athletic institutions in the state. Molders of the future leaders of this great state.

Tice was at the Farmington spring scrimmage tonight. Saw some pics from some old high school friends who have kids on the team currently and man it’s hard to get past how old he is. I just don’t see how this is going to turn out well. Hope I’m wrong.

What happened with your last coach? Hadn’t he recently won multiple state titles at other places? I thought Farmington was on the up and up.

Agreed. I work in secondary education and have a lot of coach friends. Sports culture has changed so much that many of them have gotten out. A dude this old is going to struggle to adapt to today’s athlete mindset.

It’s been years but he was always a nice guy when I was in the area. I had a lot of good kids out of Huntsville and always heard about him from folks in Harrison. But again that’s almost 15 years ago
