It’s got to be a Nolan type hire right?
Like someone who can change the style and tempo of the program, has a huge chip on their shoulder, doesn’t mind getting recruits from midsized and undersized areas but play the style he wants and finally someone who can do it his way and only his way
Oh wait they had that chance with Kiffin

They need someone who can evaluate and develop talent to fit whatever they are doing.
Getting the best available to you gives you a defense we saw yesterday, which in paper has more talent than they've show.
Seeing guys who never see the field here go on to start at other P4 schools and make NFL rosters shows a severe problem in evaluation by the staff.

I just want a damn-good football coach. I don't care background or demeanor or temperament. Just someone that can coach a team not to fumble, not to be mentally weak in close games, and be physical at the line-of-scrimmage.
Personality and recruiting "acumen" are secondary. The roster has to be literally bought no matter what.

You saying Nolan wasn’t a good coach?
Umm okay

Never once.
My only point is that I don't care about the individual fitting into any "mold". I just want someone that is good at what they do at this point.

It's like smu feels they can offload their mistakes onto Arkansas when needed.

Yeah, what's the donation level for that shirt? 1000 dollars or so?

In passing I’ve noticed some penn state fans are tiring of James Franklin, doubt he’d come here but wouldn’t be surprised if he’s at a different school sooner rather than later

His record against ranked teams is outright terrible at Penn State.
15-28 vs top 25
4-21 vs top 10
16-31 career vs top 25.
This also explains why Bert has done so well in the B1G and not in the SEC. B1G is extremely top heavy and extremely bad in the middle-bottom compared to the SEC.

I mean he did post back to back 9 win seasons at Vandy

He did with an extremely weak sec east at the time.
Arkansas schedule for the foreseeable future doesn't lead one to believe that would happen here with him.

The amount of money it would take would be astronomical.
If the UofA has that kind of money for this search, then it should begin and end with Urban Meyer.

2012 had 3 top 10 teams in the east and 2013 had 2 top 10 teams

Yes, same as he sees in his division in the B1G.
All nine of the SEC schedule next year has the potential to be ranked teams at the time the game is played. 6 of the 9 in the top 15 at the time the game is played.
Statistically he has a chance of winning 44% of these games. Now add the non-con and you are looking at a 5-6 win season as a ceiling.
