Which team is going to take him first round? Have I missed something or is ESPN looking for a story on a sad soul still sitting in the green room come day 2?

There was some stat about the amount of DEs taken in the first round the past 10 years or so, Smith's projected rank in DEs put him well above that mark.

Wouldn't be surprised to see him end up with a team like New England since he was tried out at LB in the senior game, just saying NE seems to love guys with that kind of versatility, Denver too I suppose.

If he is invited, I wouldn't be too worried because he has a skill set that is in demand in the NFL as well as him being a "non house hold name", you generally see the cameras on and and the attention to a "house hold name" in these situations as well as remembering them when the occur. Brady Quinn near tears comes to mind.

Even if he did get a bit embarrassed, it's worth the risk. He'd regret not going for the rest of his life if he ended up drafted in the 1st.

This. It's not like he's Jadeveon Clowney or someone whose freefall in the draft be huge news.
