He was being a smart arse because I said Morris has had a limited recruiting reach as a head coach. He brought up Clemson and I said Dabo closed the recruits there.
I was simply making the point that he has yet to show the ability to recruit anything other than Texas kids as a head coach.

This is true, if they're being told all of this about Morris I'd have to think it's actually someone else. I asked a couple of my people up in NWA for an update and they're basically saying that it's pandemonium behind the scenes with things going a million different directions. This was before the AD hire was made but I doubt that changes much in the short term.
Speaking of the new AD, I'd guess that our coaching search and announcement just got pushed back at least a couple more days to get this guy in place and let him work out the candidates, possibly even interview them himself in person. If you think the state of AR is going nuts now, just wait a few more days

And on the subject of Deshaun Watson I read a good article about it the other day. Morris was indeed the key guy in his recruitment. But you gotta remember that every team in the South was on that kid from junior high. Morris was good enough to flip him to Clemson. Morris knew him from way back. When he was a high school coach iirc

While some of what you wrote was done in the vain of "I told you so" THis part is just foolish man.
Nobody saw this coming, other than Bo threw out the name of the AD along with 10 others a few days back. The hiring of this AD proves that the GOBN, BOT and others were not fricking this thing up, to this point. In fact they look much more organized because of this hire.

One element of a Morris hire is he comes with a bonus that is absolutely respected and adored in East Texas as well as the state. Jeff Traylor. He's remarkable. Scout Big 12 Recruiter OTY 2016 in fact, in his second year as a college coach.

Some of what you say is true, but he started recruiting him when he was a soph, and kept the wolves t bay for Clemson. Clemson was his first big school offer.
I really don't understand why everyone thinks Norvell is better. Morris has turned around at team that was a total shiteshow and made them bowl eligible in two years.
if we are talking about recruiting, he has a different set of tougher academic standards at SMU to deal with. Not so here.
He's the better choice than a one year job hopping assistant that took over a good program to begin with.
Furthermore, I have deep family connections into the SMU football family, and everyone there loves him, but knows they are going to lose him.
The only person I would rather have than him him is Kiffin.

My unofficial research has led to believe most of the people that don’t want Morris are people who have never lived in Texas. Those that have for an extended period of time know the weight he pulls in this state and how bad of a program SMU really was when he took over. He would be a great hire, frick anyone that says otherwise.
