Right, that's why I said you have to give him time, can't know for sure for another 2-3 years. Still, disappointing when you consider it's one of those classes you take a lot of players versus the 15-17 average.
Oh well, that has kind of been the pattern. Top 3 class, then a fringe Top 15 range class, back into the Top 5 hopefully next year, etc.
I am also guessing but it may be a down year for the state as well, would make sense too.

Have you paid attention to his calls as a third base coach?
Not impressed at all with this hire.
Maybe he'll grow on me and be a bad arse recruiter.

If he leaves, I say we go out and get the Tennessee Tech hitting coach and maybe even their strength and conditioning coach.

Yeah, but even still we brought him here for the power he provides as a hitting coach.
And he's fit that bill extremely well as we approach the program record for home runs in a single season.
Recruiting and 3B coaching? Not very good.

We bring in a lot of players every year for tryouts and fall scrimmages.
We are around 15 typically and move up after the draft.
It’s a decent year instate with pitchers but the star power position players are in future classes.

Recruiting and 3B coaching? Not very good.
His breaking down a pitcher and pregame hitting meetings have been spot on along with our slugging the ball.
Recruiting is much better than he’s being given credit because y’all lack the facts.
Those players didn’t go to Missouri State and end up there by themselves.
Give me an aggressive third base coach that puts it in the defense to make the play or throw every time. If he held runners, fans would be asking why we didn’t send them.

What do you mean? It's okay to be critical, I think 3 people have all said yeah you have to give him a couple of years before really judging, I like how you just completely skip everyone saying that.
Doesn't mean you can't GOD FORBID criticize something, uh yeah, our recruiting class for 2018 ranks 44th in average player rating and that is with 23 commits compared to the normal size classes you see in the 15-17 range.
And again, if the trend continues and he's back with a top 5 class or so next year then all is fine.

I wouldn't get worked up about Ultimate, his knowledge is extremely limited and mostly wrong when it comes to college baseball.

He leans with favoritism toward Mike Anderson and his questionable recruiting which is below average at best most years.
But we question the baseball program that continues producing draft picks.

Kacey Murphy taken with the 1st pick in the 11th round by the Tigers

DVH had 0 picks in the 1st 2 rounds this year. Mike could possibly have a 2nd rounder this year.
Mike >>> DVH by a mile

Has anyone heard anything about Cole Turney possibly transferring to Juco?
Posted on 6/6/18 at 11:18 am to Pygthagorean Theorem
Hadn't heard anything about that...I know he's playing Summer ball up north right now. What have you heard?
Posted on 6/6/18 at 11:20 am to Hogsfan005
That he's unhappy about lack of playing time.

He gone.

Get frustration there but he's coming off pretty major surgery. I'd assume he'd be an everyday player next year with Cole and Bonfield leaving so that'd be pretty stupid to transfer imo
Posted on 6/6/18 at 11:32 am to Pygthagorean Theorem
Don't know what he expects as a freshman on a pretty loaded roster, not like he lit it up in his few chances.
Good thing Spanberger wasn't unhappy his freshman year

Wasn't on many radars before this year and he could improve his stock/ make a lot of money being our ace next year. But it is his last year for leverage so wouldn't surprise me either way
