Not very likely Koch comes back, his bat this year hurt his stock a bit but it's his last year for leverage.
Interested to see what happens with Josh Breaux, the Juco catcher we signed but Yankees took 61st. They also took a catcher round 1 but he hit 100 MPH on the mound this year, so maybe they want him as a pitcher but he's very raw there.
Opitz is the guy and we signed 2 other HS catchers to back him up I believe.

I do feel bad for Blaine though, coming in most had him a first round pick throughout the season, and then heading into the draft it was more early 2nd round.
But to fall where he did has to be incredibly disappointing for him, a difference of millions in slot value to 660K.

Koch last year would’ve went top two rounds. Being pull heavy has hurt him so it was beautiful to see him go the other way against DBU taking the 3-2 lead.

Yea can't help but feel bad for him, he just doesn't overpower guys like a lot of those taken before him. And scouts think he's got high injury risk with his smaller frame.
Good pitching coach at the next level will help him develop some good secondary pitches and with his competitive nature he's still got a good shot to make it

Biggers to the Rangers in round 8, higher than I was expecting.

Yea def hurt himself with his hitting struggles this year. I remember DVH saying at the end of last year Biggers was gone after this year, but I think he expected to go higher. Any chance he stays?

If you're Jax I think you have to go.

A lot of mocks had Campbell still in that 3rd to 4th round range heading into the draft.
Mid 7 and still listed as best available.
Can't blame teams for being scared.

He’s 6’3” and weighs 160-165. Of course teams are going to be concerned and his question his ability to last a full season at the professional level.
Singer and Kowar sliding didn’t help him but I always felt late 2nd round would be the earliest and the 40-50 range was a bit high.

Shaddy just taken 10th rd (311) by the Nationals. Really happy for him! Came a long way since last year

He’ll get $5k to $10k being a senior sign but ecstatic he gets a shot.

Couldn’t agree more. Know his older brother really well, said Carson was pretty beat down about how last year’s draft went. Gotta be pleased here

Well with a somewhat lackluster recruiting class this year we don't really have to worry much about the draft and losing many guys.

Hard to judge strength of the class until after all the guys sign and we see who gets to campus. We only had one signee drafted in the first 10 rounds, could bode really well for us

Oh for sure, no reason to pay attention to class rankings until the post-MLB draft ones.
Still though, PG has us with zero top 100 recruits so only having 1 drafted is due to it being a lesser class than recent years right now. Our average player ranking is really low (44th).
Hopefully this isn't reflective of how Nate Thompson is going to recruit here, the drop off from Vitello is a big one this year. But have to give him time.

Didn’t realize that was our average ranking, but I imagine we don’t have as many scholarships available with all the young guys this year.
And yea I’d give him some time, see how things play out next year before we make any judgements.

You do realize most of the guys committed 2-3 years ago. Baseball players are offered in their freshman and sophomore years more iften than not. So, most of them were recruited by Vitello.
