I don't think Bert was lights out but I would argue the biggest sin was the John L year.
Bert mostly maintained what he inherited, but we blinked in an arms race and missed a year of recruiting maybe a couple when you consider the uncertainty.

But I think that's where we lost the edge on the Miss schools.

That said, Chad was a disaster. It definitely didn't have to get this bad

And this year is similar in recruiting. After a ton of players transfer, and we don't sign anyone worth a damn. Tbe next coach will have a truly massive rebuild to do. The end of the football program.

I don't disagree if we don't bring in someone who can immediately retain the talent we have and win with them.
