The fact remains that I don't know how well Norvell would recruit here.

What bearing does this have on his ability to do a good job at The University of Arkansas? This is all hypothetical of course. I don't have any skin in it. Fickell isn't in my top 5. It just seems silly to me to say someone isn't fit for a job because they remind you of someone who didn't do a good job previously.

It doesn't really, but I'm in the same camp as the guys that worry about this issue.
We've had two straight coaches from outside of our footprint and it hasn't gone well.
Maybe there's something to it or maybe it's just the wrong guys. We could argue the point forever and not be 100% on who is wrong or right, but based off the last several years it makes me nervous to get a person who's that big of an outsider.

Well, and the other thing about that is that Bielema could have done well here. His 2015 team was pretty good. His "plodding dinosaur" offense (misnomers galore) that "wasn't modern" produced passing records here. At least one I can think of off the top of my head is Brandon Allen throwing for 7 TDS in a single game.
That was brought to us by two Midwesterners. Bielema and Enos.
Bielema could have succeeded here under different circumstances I think.

Had he not been a drunk and ran the best of his staff off he had some potential.
He never had a major public incident, but the drinking pushed his best people away.

Sure, if he wasn’t a disorganized drunk that people hated working for. Word on him got around and he no longer had the ability to hire quality assistants. Look at his last hires here.

This is all beside the point. The point is that there isn't anything inherently bad about hiring a Midwesterner as a coach here. That's the only point I was making. This whole "Bielema 2.0" nonsense.
And like I said, it doesn't make any difference to me anyways.

Dallas is outside our footprint? Someone needs to tell admissions this because they spend an awful lot of money in Dallas on a yearly basis.

Outside of the brief stint at Auburn, what sort of connections did Petrino have inside of Arkansas' footprint? Maybe I'm forgetting something.

Especially the amount of students and alumni from the metro.

Fickell with an incredible OC who has been at Arkansas prior.

Enos will probably be looking for a job after losing to FIU.

Considering multiple people post on your account, it’s not out of the realm of possibilities.

Don't understand the lack of context, given the Tressel situation that he inherited that season. The only thing someone could ding him on is for never leaving Ohio, but recruiting wouldn't be an issue.
