Texas is stomping another mudhole in LSU again today. 8-3 in the third.

Jacob Burton in for Monke after walk, fielders choice - throwing error, walk, double made it 15-5.

LSU has looked really really underwhelming to start the season. For as much hype as those assholes got I am not worried about them at all

We swept a solid team. Stony Brook will be in the tournament for sure.

We have a solid OOC schedule. Should get the guys ready for conference in a couple weeks.

LSU has some major issues in the pitching department. You could see it from game 1 with them. They do not have anyone that looks like a legit SEC ace on that staff.

We lost quite a bit of pitching, but Campbell is looking the part as an SEC ace at this point. There are enough pieces with our staff that they show flashes of dominance, which is all you need for success. LSU's staff didn't even show flashes against the middling teams they've played.

Overall I think this could be a letdown season for LSU and their fans. I feel the same way about Florida and continue to scratch my head the last two weeks when they are still highly ranked.

Those close games yesterday are super beneficial then today to smash them after they took a 2-run 1/2 inning lead and we score 4 to answer and first five batters reached base.

Cant say I agree. Campbell is pretty damn inconsistent. Having that good showing in the CWS isnt enough to make me forget all those awful outings he's had. Agree that LSU doesnt have a Friday guy in Hess though

Campbell is the typical some days you have it and some you don’t.

When he’s got it though the other team is done.

If continues to work on hiding the ball out of the stretch he will be much better.

MLB pitchers often "don't have it" on every given start. But they develop a few solid pitches to "get by" the starts where they don't have their best stuff

Campbell needs to develop a few consistent pitches and worry less about trying to get 21 Ks and pitch a gem every time out. Especially with our offense. Don't walk people trying to nibble on the corners and get looking Ks. We're going to play a lot of 7-5 games, not many 2-1. Keeping walks down makes them earn it with the bats, which most teams struggle to do consistently.

I actually think his struggles come from overconfidence in his stuff

The best SEC starters are more "grind it out" than Roger Clemens types. These are the otherwise unremarkable guys at South Carolina (at their height) and other schools who always seemed unbeatable. Think Nolan Belcher

It was much more than just the CWS start. He was very solid down the stretch of the season and all postseason. Something clicked toward the end. I can rest easy now that I've seen him go 7 innings of dominant pitching on March 1st. He will adequately fill the role of ace.

He didn't even record an out before being pulled in the regionals against Dallas baptist... and he left the bases loaded from what I remember. Is that "solid"?

You say you can't use one outing to justify his improvement but use one outing in the midst of a solid stretch to make the opposite argument? By the way it wasn't the Supers. It was DBU in the regional.

The previous 3 starts combined before that, he had given up 2 earned runs in 13 innings with 17 strikeouts and 1 walk. The two starts after that he gave up no more than 2 earned runs while he shut down both SCar in the Supers and Florida in Omaha pitching a total of 9.1 innings with with 13 strikeouts and 2 walks. Stop talking out of your arse.

You must be imagining things I wrote because I never said anything about one start justifying anything. I pointed out one particularly bad outing (really as bad of a start in the postseason that a pitcher can have). Thankfully DVH had a short leash that day or the damage could have been bad. Look, if you're trying to say he wasn't extremely hit or miss last year I guess we just have different opinions of what is good.
