Arkansas gained its ninth verbal commitment for the Class of 2024 on Saturday when Birmingham (Ala.) Parker cornerback Tevis Metcalf went public with his decision.

Metcalf, 5-10, 175, chose the Razorbacks over Auburn, Colorado, Georgia Tech and several others. He is Arkansas' third verbal commitment from the state of Alabama in this year's class.

Metcalf was recruited to Fayetteville by special teams coordinator Scott Fountain and defensive backs coach Marcus Woodson. The cornerback is the younger brother of current Razorback freshman safety TJ Metcalf. Both brothers are cousins to NFL star wide receiver DK Metcalf.

Tevis visited Arkansas several times throughout his own recruitment and that of his brother's last year. The junior was back in Fayetteville last weekend for the Hogs' Red-White game and was listed among our "Who Could Be Next?" candidates Saturday morning (VIP).

With the addition of Metcalf, Arkansas' 2024 class moves from 15th to 11th nationally while holding firm at sixth in the SEC.

The group consists of Birmingham (Ala.) St. Martin four-star quarterback KJ Jackson, Pine Bluff (Ark.) four-star wide receiver Courtney Crutchfield, Little Rock (Ark.) Mills defensive lineman Charleston Collins Leeds (Ala.) four-star defensive lineman Kavion Henderson, Ocean Springs (Miss.) St. Martin four-star athlete Noreel White, Batesville (Miss.) South Panola four-star athlete Julius Pope, four-star cornerback Jaden Allen of Aledo (Texas), and three-star defensive lineman Dion Stutts of Memphis (Tenn.) University School.

The commitments keep coming for Sam Pittman and the Razorbacks, as three-star defensive back Tevis Metcalf committed to the Hogs on Saturday.

The brother of current Arkansas defender TJ Metcalf made the announcement on his Twitter page.

The Razorbacks gained Metcalf's commitment over Auburn, Georgia Tech and Colorado. The athlete out of Birmingham, Alabama, becomes Arkansas' fourth commitment in the last two days.

Metcalf made several trips to Arkansas before making his decision, most recently to watch his brother play in the Red-White spring scrimmage on April 15.

Metcalf reports on his Twitter account that last season he recorded four interceptions, seven pass breakups and allowed just one catch.

Football runs deep in the Metcalf family. While TJ and Tevis are both highly-sought after recruits, their cousin DK played college football at Ole Miss and now is enjoying success with the Seattle Seahawks. DK’s father, Terrence, also played at Ole Miss before being drafted by the Chicago Bears in 2002, where he played until 2008.

Arkansas is now up to nine commitments in the class of 2024, three from the state of Alabama, something that hasn't been done by the Hogs in the recruiting rankings era.

Little Rock (Ark.) Mills four-star defensive end Charleston Collins has a combination of size and speed that makes him near impossible to control off the edge, as the Arkansas native made move-after-move on Sunday during one-on-ones to get around offensive tackles and into the backfield.

Collins has always had a quick burst about him that allows him to get off the line in a hurry, but his weight room work was what was most evident when he was able to line up with a more agile offensive tackle as he brutalized a pair of guys in the trenches after his initial get-off.

The four-star currently sits outside of the Rivals250 and is ranked as the No. 5 recruit from Arkansas, but his performance over the weekend warrants both of those categories seeing improvements.
