Yes that is right, some small rumors about JD but nothing I think that is credible yet

Notae is likely going to get more action next year and possibly even be a starter. Damn, I get he probably wants to play more, but man. That's rough if we lose him.

In Muss's post season presser the other day is named off several players that would be moving on. I didn't count them, but sounded like we would have about five slots available in total.

Arkansas lands Miami transfer Chris Lykes

quote:

Arkansas coach Eric Musselman loves to build through the transfer portal, and this year is no exception.

Arkansas on Wednesday landed a pledge from Miami transfer Chris Lykes, who chose the Razorbacks over Southern Cal.

The 5-foot-7 senior guard averaged 15.5 points, 5.5 assists and 4.0 rebounds last season for the Hurricanes.

“I will be going to Arkansas to play for coach Muss,” Lykes told ZAGSBLOG before his public announcement.

“Honestly the love shown from the staff after entering the portal was unmatched. They showed me exactly where I would fit in, what they expect of me and also where they can help me improve. Earl Boykins is also on staff and I shouldn’t have to explain why that’s huge for me. I told coach I’m a great recruiter so if he needs me to I will.”

Lykes scored scored 2,266 points at Gonzaga High School in Washington, D.C, earning Washington Catholic Athletic Conference player of the year honors as a junior and senior.

His commitment comes about a week after Musselman added Pitt transfer guard Au’diese Toney, who chose Arkansas over Texas A&M, Missouri, Georgia, Tennessee, Arizona, Providence, Vanderbilt, Connecticut, Wisconsin and Iowa State, among others.

Arkansas is also involved for Oregon transfer Chandler Lawson and was slated to have a Zoom call with him Wednesday. The 6-8 Lawson averaged 4.4 points and 3.0 rebounds as a sophomore this past season.

Chris Lykes, a 5-7 guard from the University of Miami (Fla.), has signed with Arkansas, head coach Eric Musselman announced today.

“Chris is a proven, dynamic guard who has excelled in the ACC,” Musselman said. “He has the ability to score and get his teammates involved. We like how he attacks the paint and gets to the free throw line. He also has shown great leadership. We are very excited to have Chris join our program and our fans will enjoy watching him play.”

Lykes spent four seasons with the Hurricanes but only played two games this past year after injuring his ankle on Dec. 4. He led the team – and ranked among the ACC top 10 – in scoring the previous two seasons as he averaged 15.4 points (10th in the ACC) as a junior (2019-20) and 16.2 points (ninth in the ACC) as a sophomore (2018-19).

Lykes was a preseason first team All-ACC selection this past season. In three-plus seasons with the Hurricanes, he scored 1,256 points with 251 assists and 100 steals while shooting 41.2 percent from the field, 34.7 percent from 3-point range and 77.8 percent from the free throw line. His 1,256 career points rank 22nd on the school’s all-time list and he ranks 15th in Miami history with 163 career 3-pointer made as well as 11th in career 3-pointers attempted (476). Lykes scored 735 career points in ACC games to rank fourth in the Miami record book.

Appears to be the case, a ton of positive info coming from Umude the last 12 hours or so as well. Seems like we are also good on some guards too in case we have another spot open besides Moody.

I’ll be honest. If Umude wants to come and we’re full, I got no problem telling Vanover to try his luck at AState

Lykes is so electric to watch. Fast, has a good shot, can pass efficiently. He's gonna be fun to watch. Defensively, I am not sure about a 5 foot 7 guard but man he is quick.
