At the end of the day, Sam is more of a stop the bleeding type of guy. He's done a good job of that. It's probably going to be another coach that takes the next step, but routing for Sam.

That’s very true. I told myself that when we hired him that if he got us back to respectability I’d be fine, but he kind of reminds me of Mike Anderson. Great guy, decent coach, will have you competitive and you won’t have any awful seasons, but not gonna get you over the hump, into consistently being top 15/20 with 9/10 win seasons or more.

Yeah Mike and Sam are natural comparisons. I’d like to say Sam will set us up for our football equivalent of Muss, but our basketball program is just better suited for success overall, so who knows

Except they’re really not a good comparison.

Sam makes changes at assistants
Mike did not make changes at assistants

The only data we have on Sam is prior to him seeing change was needed. Good on him for being willing to change.
