Went down it once at 4.8, a 4 hour float took like 30 minutes and years off my life.

been on several floats during flood stage. Most exciting floats ever! However, no room for error which makes for a heightened experience.

Cossatot is brutal when its up. Still kinda fun to piddle there when its down. Snakey as shite, though, IMO.

I've only been there once, didn't float or hit any rapids was just checking it out. The water was pretty high and it looked scary as hell IV-V rapids I believe. It was kinda strange tho because no one was there.

Yeah, the Coss is no joke with high water flow. Reminds me of Kiero Small, face breaker.

snakey

Maybe in the summer when the water gets real low.

Here's a decent video of a big balled person doing it alone with his GoPro. I started it where it gets pretty good. Lots of good scenic shots later on.

Ouachitas are more rugged than the Ozarks. People die in flashfloods in those parts.

Has anybody been to the place near St. Joe that rents canoes and as soon as you walk in there is a giant sign saying ABORTION KILLS CHILDREN?

I thought it was a flawed business strategy.

That video was really cool, have a question though. After he comes out of the rapids he finds kind of a break and even in the middle of all that around him he seems to stay nearly completely still. Does he have his paddle pushing off something to keep him in place or?

Never went so have no idea. Really cool though would like to get into it when I get back to the states.

The video linked to some more as well on youtube, thought this one was absolutely crazy. LINK

After the rapids he gets in the Eddy, it's backflow.

No not yet. got some friends going next weekend for a wilderness section float.

I've been down the mulberry several times, going tomorrow as well I believe and just doing a short float. I'm Cossatot bound next weekend though with all the rain coming this week.

It's probably known to most, but there's an interesting Kayaking sticky over on the outdoor board.

I'd imagine some of y'all are close enough to get in on the action with the guys over there.

To be honest, I'd tear up that sticky with my experience. I think I'll make an appearance.

Did the buffalo one year at flood state... NEVER EVER AGAIN.

WIth a group from college. Wrapped two canoes around trees. Lose much of our gear. Fastest trip ever.. Camped at Jacks, or was it Jims bluff...Rode right up on that thing. Usually quite a jump. Anywho!

Used to stay at Tyler Bend and to a lesser degree at Buffalo Point. Nice river but in more recent years I've just continued going to the rivers in Central and Western Arkansas--just more convenient for me.

Closed out last season with a wild ride on the Saline River down from the Lake Catherine dam when the water was flowing swiftly. Had a leak in the kayak and I spent more time in the water than in the boat while I limped down to Rockport.

Fixed the hole with P-Tex candles which is about the only thing I know of that will repair damage to a plastic boat. LINK
