I also think he has somewhat of a clutch gene in him too.

Reese gonna play his way into the everyday lineup!

Cheese and Bybee both kinda suck. Sure wish Gaeckle would have worked out as a starter.

I think when it’s all said and done, Gaeckle or Jimenez will get some starts. Coil coming back would soften the blow of losing a bullpen guy if that happens. Cheese could also be a great long relief option.

I asked ChatGPT who should be Arkansas’ Sunday starter between Beidelshies, Bybee, McEntire, and Gibler. It said Beidelshies.

Then I asked it to make the same decision but based only on projections going forward, and it said Gibler.

I think it’s worth considering… Beidelshies may be considerably more effective as a 1 inning guy where he can crank up the velocity. I don’t love the idea of Foutch being the guy we go to in a close game in the 9th (when Jimmy isn’t available). Maybe Beidelshies could be that guy if Coil isn’t up to it when he comes back.

We’re running out of time to figure this out and get settled into final roles. If no big changes are made this week I’d just stick with what we’re doing.

Had ChatGPT chose this outcome I’s have lost all trust in its programming.

But we’re not really…if all goes as planned with Wood…he will likely be on a pitch count of 70-80 again this week against LSU…then he is likely full go from there on out…which means you’ve got your Saturday full time starter, which in itself likely saves 1-3 innings of bullpen arm on Saturdays and gifts you those innings on Sundays…then you’ve gotta expect Coil back very soon.

It could be a situation where Gaeckle and Biedelshies turn into a Sunday combo like what we’ve seen from Wood/Gaeckle the last few weeks…

When Coil is back…

Friday: Root/Coil
Saturday: Wood/Jimenez
Sunday: Biedelshcies/Gaeckle

Then you just sprinkle the rest in between.

Souza removed from his Cape team roster, no summer ball either.

Sucks for him. We get all caught up in their 2-4 years as a hog, but something like that takes a toll on their career path and sets them back a summer.

I was the head of the line shitting on Souza but he did seem to be figuring things out a bit when his injury happened. Hate it for the kid.

He was starting to see the ball better. Wasn't striking out near as much.

He has power both ways.

I still have high hopes for him if he were to return.

He still scares the shite out of me.

He got bailed out big time by the ump on Friday.

His ability to command the strike zone is not good. His breaking pitches don't break enough.

I think the reason he was so effective last year is because he was able to keep his pitches down and paint the edges.

It's like the complete opposite this year, and I'm not sure what happened to him.

After the weekend…regarding standings

1. Texas +2 games on Arkansas
2. Arkansas +2 games on LSU & UGA
t3. LSU & UGA +1 game on Tennessee & Alabama

Arkansas is currently +3 games from the 5th seed. 1-4 seeds get double bye this year in SECt with the single elimination format.

D1 Poll is out...basically they screwed up dropping Arkansas so low...move up to #7 after sweeping #1 AND they left Texas at #1.

What a joke of a poll they have.

Outfielder Logan Maxwell

The TCU transfer has dealt with a lingering hamstring issue all season and tweaked it on a failed pickoff attempt in Arkansas' 6-4 loss to Florida on April 25.
"It's pins and needles with him whenever he's running," Van Horn said.
Maxwell hasn't played since missing the final two games against the Gators and the recent sweep over No. 1 Texas. Van Horn said Monday that Maxwell 'might be available' to face LSU.

Left-handed reliever Parker Coil

Coil hasn't pitched since March 23 with a back injury. The original target for a return was the final series of the regular season against Tennessee, but Van Horn indicated the timeline has moved in favor of the Razorbacks.
"(Coil) will be on the roster, 100%, and he'll be ready to go," Van Horn said of Coil's availability against LSU.

Right-handed reliever Carson Wiggins

Two MRIs on Wiggins' right elbow did not reveal a tear, to which Van Horn said 'thank goodness' at the Swatters Club.
"If he had a tear, we probably wouldn't have had him next year, either. He's eligible next year, which means he probably wouldn't pitch here much, ever," Van Horn said.
Still, Arkansas doesn't expect the freshman to be available for the remainder of the season. Van Horn said there's a chance Wiggins returns if Arkansas is playing into late June at the College World Series.

Second baseman Nolan Souza

Van Horn announced Souza will undergo surgery on his torn right shoulder next week. The sophomore sustained the injury sliding into third base in the Razorbacks 13-3 win over Georgia on April 11.

Second baseman Gabe Fraser

The freshman was the initial replacement for Souza at second base, but Fraser is now dealing with a back injury that bothered him in high school. Van Horn said Fraser will undergo two tests Monday and will likely miss a week or two.
